Chelsea don't pay that high? They are currently paying Sterling 325k a week! They had Sancho on loan last year because they were the only club in the league willing to pay his 350k a week wages.

Why do you think Sterling has been kicked out?

Also they were paying around half the wages for Sancho, they asked him to reduce his wage to £180k and he refused hence why they sent him back

I think Palmer or Enzo are their highest earners and it's no way near £250k per week.

They can attract because they normally give longer contracts, or at least they were.

I'm in Spain. Few sites here reporting Rodrygo story

Where there's room for two, there's room for three. And if three fit, there's room for four too. As the transfer window ticks down, Rodrygo Goes (Osasco, São Paulo, Brazil; 2001) has more suitors. As AS previously reported, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have entered the race for the Brazilian in practically interrelated transactions. From London, and in addition to the (cold) interest from Woolwich and Chelsea, Tottenham wants to capitalize on the situation.

After winning the Europa League almost two months ago, Spurs are looking to make a statement in this transfer window. Thomas Frank took over the reins of the project following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. The Dane was promised one thing: "investment and more investment." The team has returned to winning ways after several years of decline—a situation that neither Mourinho nor Conte were able to turn around—and they aren't keen on undoing all the hard work. They don't just want to keep the team, which is why they're reluctant to let several heavyweights leave, but also want to improve it.

For now, they've already signed Mohammed Kudus (West Ham, €63 million), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest, €70 million), and exercised the purchase options for Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich, €35 million) and Kevin Danso (Lens, €25 million). In total, a net outlay of almost €200 million, in which they will try to include Rodrygo. Of course, they won't go crazy. Given the good relationship between the two institutions, Daniel Levy will try to lower the Brazilian's price to below €90 million.

A date with Xabi Alonso But to keep dreaming, you have to pay. To date, none of the interested parties have initiated official contact with Madrid for the Brazilian. Informal conversations with his entourage, yes, and they've been going on for quite some time. Rodrygo is clear that, before accepting any offer, he must first speak with Xabi Alonso about his future. The club and player agreed to sit down after the Club World Cup to define both his role in the team, which will become secondary, and his potential departure. The player is in the United States enjoying a well-deserved vacation, but sooner rather than later he'll have to make up his mind. Madrid needs the money to return to the market; they're looking for a midfielder and a defender. The ball is in Rodrygo's court.

Sadly it reads like we are a prop to use for starting a bidding war. In line with everything else we’ve known about our “special relationship” so far…

They are chronic bottle jobs and that squad is on the verge of breaking up if they don’t get over the line this year.

They also hired and protected a rapist. If they start poorly, watch for Arteta in the hot seat as well,

I don’t know one Spurs fan irl who would swap our seasons last year.
That's not the point though, is it.
Using our Europa cup win to justify the growing chasm in ambition between the two clubs is, as I said, burying ones head in the sand to reality.

Thought they would report in Spanish ? :frankpoint2:

If he calls our bluff and it goes past the August deadline then I imagine it'll get very legal, especially if Spurs genuinely believe they did nothing wrong and he'd no right to block it.
It's so complicated.
Is it just me or should we walk away from Gibbs.I would love him at our club but don’t see him putting any pressure on Forest by demanding transfer.Yes this would upset the forest fans but I am afraid that must happen or we are wasting our time against the vindictive owner. All this time we could have been shopping elsewhere instead of
Doing nothing while the rest leave us behindGet back in the game Levy or we finish as always with mediocre buys
Yeah just you 😆

I don't think there will be any movement from the teams until the last week of transfer window. Spurs probably have a backup plan and have already talked to agents of other targets for the same position. We'll get Gibbs-White if one of two things happen. Either he and his agent enforce his contractual rights or Nottingham Forest can't find a team to move him to that he'll agree to play for. I'm still a little optimistic Spurs will get him because it appears Marinakis would like to move him and he may find himself with a week to go and a player who doesn't want to be there and no buyer who will pay any more than Spurs. The pressure NF will feel is they also have to have time to acquire a replacement.

we do, hes been here 6 months, hes had enough game time to see exactly what sort of player he is. next year wissa will 100% be a better player than tel.

why do you think people get scouted in the first place? people make judgements on players quick, you can tell a player after 5 mins.

messi was hyped right up as a little boy...theres a reason for that.
Maybe it's just optimism on my part, but I do think some players take longer to settle in. I do think, however, he probably is better closer to the goal. I'd be surprised if his ultimate position is winger.

So you don't think they are fucking about, dithering, and penny pinching themselves?

They fucked about and dithered with a sex offender on the pitch for 3 years
They fucked about and dithered with signing Zubamendi for 6 months
They have fucked about and dithered with signing a striker for well over a year and seem to be penny-pinching over Gyokeres for months now.
Well .....they'll fuck us over at least twice next season if we don't bring in massively needed reinforcements.

I believe that apart from Sterling, James is their highest earner on around £250K per week
