Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not to single you out, but I'm so fucking tired of reading this same lazy take every. single. summer. It's unbelievably trite and superficial. Every year it's the same shit, and everyone looks at the table imagining a season in which nobody apart from Spurs suffers any injuries whatsoever, and everyone else's transfers are all competing for the golden boot or ballon d'or.

There is always more competition and opportunity in the League than anybody anticipates. Odds are good that at least two of those teams are going to sharply disappoint compared to current expectations.

I swear there's a disease that some of you folks suffer from. July comes around and half of you act like you want the League to go ahead and declare the winner before a ball has been kicked.
West Ham got a Champions League place after last year's summer transfer window if I remember correctly.

This was really good analysis and interesting for a few reasons

1. It’s clear that Frank will adapt to most of the current tactical trends so it will be fascinating to see how much of a difference that makes to the outcome of our season and also to see how the media intelligentsia react and choose to cover the club now,

2. Both of the analysts and host all agreed that the profile we really need is the deep lying playmaker in the CM pivot. I don’t know football like those 2 but fully agree what we really need is another player in MF who can pass.

This is interesting to me because every summer we seem to have on obvious profile or 2 missing and always seem to fill that role a year late. I.e CBs after Conte and a 1v1 specialist after Ange.

In previous years, I’d agree with you, but the level of spending from those four is just on a different level this last six months.

Well AFC & LFC spent bugger all last season so you'd expect theirs to be comparatively higher this season......... Man C is same old same old (yet suprisingly low given their broader reputation). CFC is the usual bent mayhem boosted by the cash influx world club cup win.

As per TFM (euros) :

AFC:
Last season: 25.2m (n) / This season (so far): 134.8m > Avg: 80m (n)

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-Woolwich/alletransfers/verein/11

LFC: Last season: -5m (n) / This season (so far): 150.3m (n) > Avg: 72.6m (n)

MC: Last season: 101.3m (n) / This season (so far): 112.7m (n) > Avg: 107m (n)

CFC: Last season: 42.9m (n) / This season (so far): 122.3m (n) > Avg: 82.6 (n) ***

(***That's fucking nuts when you look at all their ins and outs....... The (red) scum have a LOT to answer for!)

.............If anything all those 2 year averages look suprisingly low (even if you add on the numbers for pending deals for Gykores & Ekitike).

FWIW:

Spurs: Last season: 130m (n) / This season (so far): 127.1m (n) > Avg: 128.55 (n)

When is he ever gonna be PL-ready, though?
Maybe next season. Maybe he is now. We’re in this position because we are so stacked at CB, else he might have been the 5th CB this season, especially if we hadn’t won Europa, finished low and had much lower expectations and lower prestige comps. In that context he’d probably be an acceptable 5th choice CB. Fate changed that and now we’re somewhere else. Also Vuskovic happened. Anyways…

My hunch is Liverpool, arse and Chelsea are spending before they're reigned in by stricter ffp rules and City get in trouble etc.

Might find they all go quiet next summer having gone big this year

Unfortunately the owner has once again failed to attract any outside investment, so no chance of that happening.
I doubt ENIC will ever want outside investment; it will dilute their control. Our best hope is that they start looking for return on their investment i.e. a take over, but they'd want top dollar. Might be where the "win the EPL and CL" thing comes from. That will really elevate our value. Levy and Lewis are also getting on.

But that's just my opinion, which is worth shit
