Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And none of that happened.

You are telling me that a few tweets is enough for you to believe it happened?
There’s been far too much noise from sources close to Forest to suggest this was all bullshit.

Then there was the awkward video of MGW at the golf being asked if he was staying at Forest.

There would have been leaks from both clubs to diss the rumours if the story was completely fabricated.

The PL are implicit though, aren't they? Not sure if I'll lose you on this, but Abrahmovic was basically No Face entering the bath house throwing gold around (Spirited Away). The PL were never interested or motivated by fair play - they wanted to grow a business and profit over it. Greed from the day it was formed, so it is in their DNA.

That is the start and end of the reason why their got pissed off about the 'Super League', and probably part of why they are letting the worse offenders get away with it still.

If Liverpool are making £175m for winning the league, and we're getting £150m for finishing 17th, imagine how much cash the PL, as an entity, is making for itself. Must be in the region of half a billion per season. They have no motivation to kerb it.
The PL are rhe clubs on the PL, its a members club.

Co pilot says 6.3m turnover with the costs taken 150m-200m

Noises from sources close to Forest?

🤪🤪🤪

That’s the exact definition of bullshit

That gold course video wasn’t even this summer

Depends on who you mean by 'we'.....Levy certainly does not but he's the patsy in the (cheese) room. The people (our owners)who really have the money are simply not that interested in forking out vast amounts of wonga unless there is a guaranteed future return involved.

I know I'm probably flogging a dead (hercules) horse here but how can two opposing factions be so far apart in their outlook yet be so close in their delusion?

ENIC are never going to change their business model and no amount of protests are ever going to remove them unless the price is right.

Therefore the best thing the anti and pro brigade can do is to stew in their own shit & pi$$ in their armchairs while us mugs carry on supporting the primma donna's on the field.

True.

By comparison; how much of their own money have FSG invested over the last 12 years?

Or - after 24 years people just accept that ENIC are a holding company and have no money, and Joe Lewis (as the ultimate owner with the cash) has no interest in investing like that, thus far.

I mean, no one protests against the actual puppeteer - they just go after the puppet.
You're not completely wrong...and you're not completely right.

Majority of the fans attending do it out of blind allegiance and would continue do so even if the the R word happened but that doesn't mean they don't think the time has come for the parting of the ways.

If ENIC wish to keep the I in their logo then it's time to put their money where our ambition is and invest or sell up. Sure their business model has improved our standing during their tenure but it has has fallen short for success on the field when so many opportunities were there for the taking.

Earlier today Jordan on TSport said to Danny Kelly that Levy had told him recently if the Tottenham Hotspur stadium project were starting out now with today's prices and rates they simply couldn't afford (circa £3.5b) to build it...not one brick John?

Time moves on and whilst ENIC have given us platform of financial stability they will never be prepared to attack the transfer with enough vigour to make a difference.

You act as if Liverpool didn't spend years being called the Dippers precisely because they followed a pragmatic, hidden-value approach to their transfer strategy. Even when Klopp came along they bought Bobby Firmino and Christian Benteke, and these were not Big Names that Big Clubs were competing for. Then they followed it up with Mane and Wijnaldum, with only us for competition there, and Salah came the following year as a Chelsea reject reborn at Roma.

Not a single one of these transfers was a marquee signing, not a single one was even over 40m pounds, and look where it got them. NOW they cam afford to spend the earth on whomever they want, because Klopp earned it.

But we're not competing with them. We're competing with Newcastle, and even in the past 3 years we've massively out-spent them. Here, take a look at this fun little chart I made (all prices in Euros, all data from transfermarkt: Spurs, Woolwich, Newcastle):

Spending.jpg

In case anyone is confused, we've been spending a lot of money to try and catch/keep up.

Edit: I can't get the Scum link to work because the forum autochanges to Woolwich, even in a URL.

That's not why we call that lot Dippers.

24/25 -5m (n)
22/23 65m (n)
21/22 63m (n)
20/21 67m (n)
19/20 -38m (n)
17/18 -9m (n)
16/17 -9m (n)
15/16 36 m (n)

The usual suspects would absolutely slaughter us for such regularly low spend totals.
Liverpool fans would have slaughtered Liverpool for that had they not won major titles, and they'd have been right!

Two PL titles, a CL title, an FA Cup and two league cups are ends that justify any means.

About football transfers 99% of it is complete shite.

Not really sure why that’s controversial

So you don't believe a bid went in for MGW and everyone including Romano and Ornstein is just making it up, for what?

Just to be clear I think you're saying that you don't believe in rumours until it's confirmed which is fine but then again you shouldn't be pissing your pants at our club's (negative) rumours and other team's rumours which you have continually done throughout this thread, amirite?

True.

Not much. Red Bird who are a hedge fund I believe, put 100m into Liverpool a few years ago.
When Liverpool recently added a top tier to the Anfield Rd end , 6k extra seats, not one of them was for season ticket holder, neither were any for members. Every one was is a corporate seat.
The people’s club I believe, maybe not.
We have 42k season tickets out of 62k. Almost 70%.
Liverpool have 26k out of 60k. About 43%.
We get plenty of stick in the media, Liverpool hardly any, even if they deserve it.

I don't know - people look at it like it's still the 90s and Jack Walker or Freddie Shepherd wakes up one morning and decides to put their fortune into winning the PL title.
Biggest aspect is that it simply isn't sustainable - Chelsea drop like a lead ballon when they stop spending. City, even with Pep, risk falling out of the CL places when they do the same.

There are fans who haven't the slightest fuck to give as to whether we follow Leicester's trajectory as long as we win the league, but the only type of owner that will entertain that thought is one that has something to gain from it. ENIC isn't a thing, it is just an administrative packaging on the club. No one in our ownership model has a world cup to promote, or some genocide to wash away. I don't think that is really anything that should be criticised either - the winner of the league should never be the owner with the biggest sins to sanitize.

I'd much rather we achieve something without an asterisk. Other people don't care about that. I do care that my kids are wearing a shirt that isn't emblazoned with political issues though, with crypto being a bit iffy, but better than a sleeve sponsor paid for by illegal deportations.

I don't doubt the Lewises would sell up if they had a good enough offer - but the last mention of this was criticism for the value but there's £1.8bn of facility value on the books outside of the football club, so quite obviously we're going to cost more than newcastle or man city

I like the idea of retaining Son to play primarily in the Champions League fixtures. He's a big game player and still has quality that will scare the shit out of European defences - especially if he is 100% fit and rested.
I absolutely adore Sonny, but at this stage I honestly don't think any proper elite defender or goalie is that scared of him.

any decision ultimately comes down to money.
You've cracked Spurs' true motto under Levy.

Spurs have made a pretty decent investment in Tel
Based on what? He showed eff all at Bayern, they were only too happy to get rid of him (at a discount). And his loan here was bang average.

When you say negative rumours?

Listen, it’s all good with me to discuss BS rumours, that’s the whole point of this thread…

But people are in here discussing them like they are confirmed transfers and absolute truths.

The only thing that’s definitely true about MGW is that he’s a Forest player. The rest of it is bullshit
