Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What an awful post.

Bullshit. You're comparing two completely different era's you clown. The market prices then are incomparable to the market prices today.

Stop running the club down and belittling our past magnificence.
.... Where 'To dare is to Do' actually meant something

We used to be trailblazers in the transfer market. In fact we smashed the all time British transfer record to sign Jimmy Greaves. In his absolute prime

Imagine the excitement that would have given our fans who were around at the time. Bazali Bazali ?

Imagine this cunt :levystare:smashing the British transfer record 😆 ..or beating off Alex Fergusons Man Utd to sign the mercurial talent that was Paul Gascoigne lol

The only records he smashes are boardroom salaries and chairman bonuses
So we used to be trailblazers in 1961? Got it.

Not taking a dig. But you come across to many of us a someone who would relentlessly defend Levy / ENIC with your life. Come what may.

If you find the time, sir, could you give an example of what you would describe as a totally unacceptable transfer window? You know, given our wealth, ticket prices, last years 17th place finish etc....Taking everything into account.

I'm sure such a theoretical scenario must exist. Even for you?

Really interested to hear it as it may help me and many others to understand your position more clearly.
Although, if you'd rather not, I understand. We'll just draw our own conclusions from that

I mean, I could say the opposite to you. I don't defend them relentlessly, but I take umbrage with people misrepresenting reality to create negativity.

A 'totally unacceptable transfer window' is a precedent set by Sugar or Scholar, whereby we end a window weaker than we start it, or over-paying for shit. Like letting a recently-acquired star player fuck off to Bayern for half the price you paid, and the spending 5 times that on Armstrong, and selling Barmby for a huge fee and squandering it on Andy Sinton and Ruel Fox. Or selling Sheringham and spending all the money on Ramon Vega. Or somehow paying a daft amount for a near 33 year old Ferdinand. Like total incompetent shit.

I think the only time I can really say that has happened in the last 20 years or so has been when Berba and Keane left, but they both forced that and left us with no real time to plan.

I also like to take it that there are people in the club that are more informed and competent that I, or most fans, would be. I think it's stupid to believe that those people would not want to improve the squad. The thing I take issue with the most, as a person whose brain is far more comfortable with logic and facts, over theory and speculation, is when people make strong claims as to what we should be doing when there's no evidence that it would, or has ever, worked.

So, to imply the point, can you or anyone else think of any examples where clubs have signed, say, 5 or more first team players in one window in a way that has set a positive data point? In the past, in my observation, success has come from tweaks fine-tuning - not wholesale rebuilds. I don't think it is coincidental that Liverpool walked the title with only a questionable 1 signing (because perma-crocked), and that we go to a CL final keeping ours as it was.

Utter clown like you who's never kicked a ball at any level in his life don't deserve to know what makes an elite player. On you jog back to Chelsea or down the road.

I dwell in corners carved by time,
Where neither peak nor pit align.
Too lean for kings, too stout for thieves,
I pass in silence, dropped like leaves.
Fourfold I tread the spiral track,
Yet never lead, nor dare look back

Have fun, kids!!

I still think the Tel signing carries a question mark in terms of where (if not why)....... Something that depends of Frank's vision for him and the line-up (Ditto what Kulu's future looks like).
I think Kulusevski is just kind of a positionally fluid gadget player by nature, but within 24 hours we are going to see where Frank puts Tel and Gray in a lineup, and that's going to start clicking the bigger picture into place.

If we're to play 4231; I'd prefer to see him take Richy's role in the squad as back-up ST and emergency LW and use the proceeds of Rich & Son's sales to help fund a first XI ready LW. Leaving us with something like:

RW: Kudus (Johnson / Kulu)
ST: Solanke (Tel / Lankshire /Scarlett)
LW: [ New ] (Odobert / Moore)
Completely agree with this.

Bit of versatility there too, as Kulu can play midfield and Tel can play LW.
Just a case of identifying that left winger. Leao could be a shout.

He obviously stood out including keeping Salah quiet in the League Cup win 1st leg.

Saying he was the best of a bad bunch is harsh, there were calls for him to get an England call up at the time and he was actually playing well.

I expect him to push on this season.
Them calls only came within our fanbase. I hope your right and he can kick on, but for me he is the squad player I'm most worried about as he is our main back up for RB and LB so will play regularly and I just don't trust him. I really hope he shuts me up and does the business next season.
