1) Our players mostly sell for peanuts, we barely get a transfer fee over 15m for most. This shows what poor investments they were in the first place AND very poor timing on choosing to sell them (same old get a new manager and say they will come good and be brilliant all of a sudden). Poor investments
2) It's true we owe alot in transfer fees built up over the last few years. Yet if you look at what we have to show for it compared to other teams that spend roughly the same, it makes for very bad reading. I think only united surpass us on that front. Again poor investments.
3) You look at how heavily loaded our team is towards younger inexperienced players. There is ALOT of potential but to compete against the teams we are expecting to as fans considering the sums spent with such inexperience again. If we had these same youngsters playimg alonside 4 or 5 top top pros of high standard and experience then fine but we dont. Instead we have son who is half the player he used to be, maddison who cant stay in the pitch and just spends his time bantering, romero who wants out and bissouma who spends his time dancing around and cant concentrate. Solanke is probably the only one imo. This imo Is poor squad management and poor investment.
4) This summer just like other clubs we will be commiting to spending more money we will have to pay back in future and it seems things will still trend in the same direction. It was clear as day that this team was in desperate need of probably 3 top pros to combine with the young talent we have. Kudus il give despite not being a huge fan but who else? This was the summer to spend 200m on 3 players maximum, all players that walk into the starting 11.
I do not dispute the amount of spending the owners of this club make these days but the way they do is the biggest waste of time. They are simply investors treating footballers the same way looking for undervalued player, players out of favour, end of contracts blah blah.
This is exactly as I would look at the stockmarket or pension funds! Spreading the money pot nice and thinly to minimize risk but this is useless in football, and you won't compete like this. The best and biggest assets cost more per unit and you trust you scouting team and judgement to know they will be successful and they largely will as they are mid 20's, shown it, proven it, won it all before.
I think anybody who really wants the owners out and argues it needs to re adjust their stance. It's true that its no longer about spending enough to compete and instead its about making terrible financial decisions and investments in the team. The focus should be on what we waste, and the owners not having a clue what they are doing. Forget the not spending as we do, and anybody that uses that is easy to pat down by the levy lovers.
Rant over, have a lovely day
