Basically we're doing to Frank what we did to Nuno, fucking him over before he's even srarted. Ok he's first coice not 6th or 7th but the fucking brains trust that run this club are giving him no chance.
I have to be honest the appointment itself kind of set the tone of the direction we're heading.

If as a club you intend on spending serious money to attract top players you don't appoint Thomas Frank. You just don't.

If you have serious designs on competing for the Premier League and Champions League you don't employ Thomas Frank.

He's here to operate on a shoestring relative to our peers and get the optimum out of what he has at his disposal

This is the ENIC model

We finished 17th and don’t pay top wages. Winning a lesser European trophy doesn’t make up for either of those things in terms of our ability to sign important players.

Normally clubs sell their best players to teams that are better than them. I can understand why Forest refused to contemplate selling to a team that finished 27 points behind them. It would be humiliating for them.
It's not that they refused to contemplate selling to us. There was a release clause which we matched but Notts Forrestts owner did everything he could to protect his club to stop it happening and bullied our owners.
One owner consistently shows ambition and tries to improve their club while ours focuses solely on the entertainment business.
People can dress it up anyway like they but it's an absolute shit show, we couldn't even sign a player when there was a release clause. Add it to the never ending shit shows we have had to put it with in last 25 years

Dunno how I would feel if this was say Romero , MGW obviously wants out of Forest yet somehow ends up signing a 1 year
Extension , what not a new 5 year
Contract if he was serious - proper small club mentality from them , hope
The cunts go down

I can see the sense in signing an experienced Palhinha in central midfield but Grealish has been poor for a good couple of seasons and will demand astronomical wages. Albeit a different style of player, he’s the next version of a veteran Sterling and Werner.

Quite probably by we obviously don’t want to pay for Eze so will try and fudge it in some other way. I wasn’t convinced mgw was worth the money they wanted anyway but we need to go for a few players with CL experience and Grealish has that. There’s still a player there. As unlikely as Eze though I suspect.

I just want a few players in who can pass the ball, we have a team of runners. Not enough technical players who can keep the ball and that will be exposed and embarrassed greatly in Europe this season. Although we’ve never changed tact with CL money so can’t see it now. It’s just more of a standard ENIC window, which would have been the case if mgw had come in anyway. Depressing.

Mainoo reminds me of Rashford......talented yes, but a big sulk when things don't go his way. Inconsistent too

Also Mainoo has been demanding a 200k a week contract at Utd
I don't know much about his mentality - but that is certainly a red flag if true. Looking on the bright side, Mainoo is only 20 while Rashford is 27. Kobbie still has a lot to learn and you can hope that a manager with Thomas' people skills can make him understand that the team is more important than the individual. However, it is certainly a risk.

That’s exactly what I’ve been afraid of for a while now

I’d prefer the Leicester kid El Khanouss to either of those

That’s who we’ll get because he’s got a low release clause apparently!

So fucking transparent with this club. We’ll go for the younger option and hope it pays off all while not being what we actually need. The club think they are being clever, but they aren’t, we’ve all seen through it.

Winks has less than a year left on his contract

The team Spurs beat in that Europa League final have not sat still. Manchester United have added proven quality in Bryan Mbeumo to their ranks, joining Matheus Cunha as a big money arrival while Diego Leon has also arrived this summer with the trio setting United back £130.8million.

Manchester City have spent £126million so far on four signings but last season's top two Liverpool and Spurs' north London rivals Woolwich are getting huge business done.

Arne Slot's side completed a £69million deal for Hugo Ekitike after that potential British record transfer of £116million for Florian Wirtz to take their transfer tally to £269million, while Woolwich's signing of Viktor Gyokeres took their spending to more than £200million with the prospect of adding Eberechi Eze on top of that.

Don't forget Chelsea either who have spent £212million with Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap among the new faces.

Spurs are looking up and gawping at all of those sides on the ladder above them at a time when they needed to be trying to leap up to grab their ankles.

This should have been a time of pushing on. It's no longer an era when bringing in one big money signing is enough. The £55million put towards Kudus is just the tip of the iceberg compared to other side's spending this summer. Everyone knows Spurs were prepared to spend £60million on Gibbs-White so they will have to invest that now on someone else.

Probably shouldn't be surprised by this news (though I am).

Last season, I reached a point where I detached myself from the weekly defeats. It was self preservation, but it helped. The Europa League win was amazing. And yes, I started feeling hope again.

But the lack of ambition being shown by Levy is unforgivable.

Need to figure out how to get that coping mechanism kicking in a bit earlier this season.
You can blame a lot of people for the MGW situation but I’m sorry to tell you, Levy ain’t one.
