Not sure if you're serious with this logic but if so, it's a nonsense. Say, hypothetically, all the players would refuse to come to spurs, and as a consequence would only sign for our rivals. The result would leave us languishing. Player intent should not restrict you from judging squad make up. We are behind, we needed to act to change that, not act to yet another public embarrassmentIf you are talking about the players Scouse, Woolwich, Chavs and United have signed none would have come to Spurs, so we are not really "languishing" behind our rivals.
The time to judge is at 3.00pm on the first day of the PL season, when we kick off against Burnley.
We all know that we won't be competing with Scouse by spending 130m on one player.
We all know that Levy (unlike Woolwich) will be spending a billion pounds in five seasons on players.
We will never be giving incoming players eight years contracts like Chavs.
It's not "depressing" if we look at our transfer policy with some realistic expectations, given our history.
We have no Knight in shining armour racing in to buy the club, and even if there was, that doe's not mean that they will spend, spend, spend.
Let's look at the squad after the transfer window closes, we have made five signings so far, and can debate their worth now or in the future, but these signings were agreed by Frank.
Why not trust what Frank wants rather than us all playing Fantasy Manager and scatter gunning a wish list that is unrealistic player targets that will never happen.
If we really were about to trigger the £60m release clause and have been stopped, then we must have (at least m) £60m to play with.
So go and fucking play with it THFC.
If this window peters out, then there needs to be venomous fan backlash.
i think he wanted to come and we didn't have his back in a potential fight with the fat greek. we could've offered more money. we could've guaranteed him any money he would've lost in the fight. we could've gone to bat for him in the press. we could've attacked forest and the fat greek every day until the deal gets done. we did none of this as far as i can tell. we basically said, you're on your own kid and he unsurprisingly backed down. he didn't let us down, we let him down and that's why we're a joke club that no serious player would ever want to join.In the cold light of day here is what should be thought about.
- The player obviously wasn't all in on the move (possibly his wife just didn't want to move given the situation she was in with her pregnancy)?
- He has remained at Forest after signing a new contract, so i suspect that money played the biggest part of his deal as he wanted to come to Spurs initially. You may argue that this was part of the plan to force a new contract anyway?
- I didn't read anywhere where he stated that he wanted to come to Spurs, and certainly not since the transfer was announced, and at no point did he demand a move, or like Isak refuse to train?
- If money was the motivational factor behind his move, do we really want a player just chasing the money?
- There are other targets that we can now move on to, not all number one targets come off. We will be a destination that a lot of players would move to.
- He signs for Spurs and a year into his contract his family don't like the bright lights of London and he wants out?
I am not too upset, there are bigger fish in the sea, and this is possibly a blessing in disguise. This won't be the first time a player has called of a transfer at the eleventh hour, and certainly won't be the last.
We need players that are all in for the badge, not the size of their pay cheque.
Prepare to be disappointed, the signings if any will be much cheaper options than those.
Situation with this club is so so so fucking weird.
1 just won a Europa League trophy
2 Got CL football
3 played dogshit football and came 17th
4 sacked the manager and got Frank
5 got about 5-10 players to move on but moved hardly any
6 Need at least 3-4 players more but nothing happened
7 only a few weeks to a massive game against PSG
It’s the kind of situation you could play to your advantage and get pumped for the new season but we appear to be making a balls of it.
Yeah end of the day all that matters is we finished 17th with 22 defeats and were pound-for-pound the shittest team in the league. But it's now July 27th and we've only signed a Japanese kid for commercial purposes plus Kudus...and only cause West Ham were in the shit otherwise he wouldn't even be here!!! Made Danso and Tel permanent, despite already having a zillion CB and the latter having a bang average loan spell here last season. And extended Ben's contract. That after our chairman claiming he wants to win the PL and CL.
The joke club by definition.
ffs at some point you have to look at the totality of all our failures and indignities and realize this is who we are. our owners and board aren't sitting around trying to figure out how to win, they're trying to figure out how they can do as little as possible without getting relegated and/or a full fan revolt. i won't be fooled again and even another miracle tin pot trophy won't change my opinion of enic. they have to go for us to move forward as a clubIf you are talking about the players Scouse, Woolwich, Chavs and United have signed none would have come to Spurs, so we are not really "languishing" behind our rivals.

Agree - I can’t believe we’ve let ourselves get into this situation, it’s so unlike previous transfer windows where everything is so thoughtfully planned and quickly executed.Situation with this club is so so so fucking weird.

Oh, I'd bet my arse it's vanished. I'd be surprised if it actually existed. What if it’s only £60m for MGW and has now disappeared forever.

There's more chance of me running the 100 metres in under 10 seconds than us signing Isak ....
it's £60m for another goldilocks deal if it even exists. we weren't spending £60m, we were going after a £60m opportunity and now that it's gone i suspect so is the £60mIf we really were about to trigger the £60m release clause and have been stopped, then we must have (at least m) £60m to play with.
