3. “We tried” is one of the most common refrains of the past 20 years under Levy. Do you not remember the Dybala, Aguero, Moutinho etc sagas? We’ve always been “we tried” in windows especially with new managers. He did it to Poch with Dybala, AVB with Moutinho, Conte with Bastoni, etc

Hindsight is a great thing, but before we signed Tel on a loan in Jan most people said the same thing......here was one of the hottest young talents in world football, at Bayern Munich, in the CL, why would he ever entertain a conversation with Levy, Ange and Lange

Nobody expected the club to convince him to come here but eventually the did. Forget about his performances since, before he came to us 99% of people in football were shocked he swapped Bayern for Tottenham

Trying to sign a world class player from one of/the biggest clubs in the world and being rejected is a valiant effort.

All news these days is designed to generate clicks and views. A website that is viewed heavily will get more money from ads. Same with TV shows like SSN.
Gullible fans tuning in/clicking is very lucrative.
That's not the club(s) doing it, obviously.

But there are plenty of other reasons clubs pretend to be doing the dance when they're not too.

You honestly believe that Levy is directing the club to leak news stories about us potentially buying players because he and the entire Spurs media team are that stupid that they think appeasing 10% of the fanbase who actually choose to pay attention to what is said on twitter every day, for 5 mins, is somekind of genuis tactic and won't very clearly and obviously have the complete opposite effect?
