Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’d be all for Garnacho at this point, we’ve had a bollocks window but he is the sort of player that at least has a chance to develop into a top quality player.

I’m not against Mainoo either given we lack the balls and ambition to go out and sign Wharton or Baleba and we lack the scouting to sign the next Wharton or Baleba

Then we are amateurs and everyone involved in our transfers should step down.

I don’t believe that we only identified MGW and it was him or nobody tbh. I think the Forest owner referred to an attempt to take MGW but I doubt that is the only player we’ve been looking at.

Much more likely we are waiting for the price to come down on players that other clubs have struggled to get out the door
If we’ve got a finite transfer budget you’re bound to want to get your priority signing in first before splurging elsewhere.

Given we triggered a release clause I’m sure they thought it was a mere formality but weren’t counting on the ensuing shit storm.

There’s also the chance having identified MGW as the preferred target, determined the release clause and agreed personal terms we didn’t have a fallback option, believing the deal was nailed on.

I’m not saying it’s right, but I can see how it’s happened.

My mum played me beautifully that day, I remember it like yesterday. I'd been out all day and when I got home she said

Mum: You know that German striker you can't stand?
Me: What, Klinsmann?
Mum: That's the one. Why don't you like him again?
Me: Coz he's a cheating bastard. Always diving.
Mum: Oh yeah, that's right. Klinsmann is it? You really hate him, don't you?
Me: Too right I do. Why are you asking me all this?
Mum: Because he's just signed for Spurs.

(Long silence)

Me: I love him, always have done.

It’s a transfer that we failed to complete.

Now that fat gangster owner at Forest gets to crow about winning against Spurs because he did.

Meanwhile he’s also in the process of getting his own transfers done.

I actually don't mind the idea of signing Elliot, Garnacho or Mainoo, because i have faith that Frank could develop them into better players, but it sends out a bit of a message that we're Cast-Off FC, doesn't it?

We’re giving the dippers 50m for their cast offs to help them with the money they put into Wirtz and Isak

That’s the Levynomics model

Why would anyone buy Harvey Elliot for £50m. And why would Tottenham do that sort of deal when if it’s bang average British CM your scouting Leicester have Winks and Skipp who, at least solve the HG problem. Not that I want to see either back, but there is at least some rationale.

The perfect MGW alternative is already out there.
Im not sure how the statistics stand up but id say Ederson of atalanta is a pretty damn close match skill set wise. Hes not a 10 but can play cm2 and has that beautiful passing range that a MGW has.
Perfect age, experience, fellow sourh americans here, knows he's a good player and carries himself well. 60m would probably just get him

Paratici to the rescue!
:paraticiwink:

That’s our wheelhouse right now

Over spend on transfer fees for mid wage level players with premier league experience
