Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I get this, I really do, but we're a loss-making business (after tax) and owe some £300m in transfer fees. I'm not sure we have as much financial wriggle room as the headlines suggest.
We are only a loss making company on paper, due to the depreciation on the stadium, a stadium we don’t start to pay off for another 20+ years (a stadium they revalued up by 500m last year, so the ongoing depreciation will be artificially even higher going forward, but that 500m upside just goes/went to shareholders equity rather than profit)

Yes we owe monies on transfers, but that is a short term cashflow issue, and any other club would just receive a short term influx (either from banks through loan or overdraft, or by a shareholder loan).

We have an enormous amount of PSR space, if we so desired to use it.

What will prevent us from doing anywhere near the amount of business we should is
a) willingness of owners to invest more than they need to. (You can guarantee Frank will have suggested he can compete well on all fronts with minimal investment on top of the players we had last season during interview, which will have been music to clubs ears)
B) we already have a bloated squad. Club won’t want to be paying monies to players that aren’t going to feature.

But don’t buy into the club spiel that it is cashflow due to owing significantly for previous transfers, as that is an easy fix.

I’d be all for Garnacho at this point, we’ve had a bollocks window but he is the sort of player that at least has a chance to develop into a top quality player.

I’m not against Mainoo either given we lack the balls and ambition to go out and sign Wharton or Baleba and we lack the scouting to sign the next Wharton or Baleba

Both HG so will have resale value, which of course is the most important thing at THFC.

Has anyone seen CJJ CJJ ?

Strangely enough I don't obsess over the negativity like a big group of you and have a life outside of the forum/

Last I knew people were arguing with me that we never bid for MGW and it was all made up. I've probably missed a bunch of pages, but I assume you've all changed your minds now you can melt about it?

It’s a transfer that we failed to complete.

Now that fat gangster owner at Forest gets to crow about winning against Spurs because he did.

Meanwhile he’s also in the process of getting his own transfers done.
So bloody what! Who gives a rats arse what Maranakis thinks?! In reality he’s probably raised enough questions to make agents and players wonder if it’s worth dealing with the club in future either on sales or purchases.

All that matters now is who we now bring in to salvage the situation.

The last sentence is true.

It’s not looking very hopeful based on the model this club follows under our owners

Mate, this is too sensible a post to be taken seriously. Please start slagging off Levy and ENIC 74 times a day using the same 3 arguments, if you want to have any credibility.

:ange-pray:
You really do get so upset of any criticism of Levy. All you do on here is whine and whimper about it all day and make silly, sarcastic comments along the way...It's all you offer.
What's it all about, mate?

And you know this how?
He does this occasionally, isn’t a Spurs fan but pops in to let everyone know how we do everything wrong and then says things about us being too focused on the Prem market and we never buy anyone from abroad where it’s better value, you know all our prem signings like Vicario, Porro, Romero, VDV, Udogie, Bergvall….

There’s a lot of truth in Lange having deficiencies, and let’s face it our transfer approach is awful, but it’s not simply down to us not shopping for better players abroad and only going prem based. It’s because our set up and player identification in general is fairly poor.
