It is not my first rodeo

When you're Spurs (9th richest club in the world etc etc) and you finish 17th with 22 losses, your summer window should 100% be something like Oblak/ter Stegen, Guehi, Bastoni, Robinson, Barella, MGW/Eze, Rodrygo/Nico Williams, Isak/Osimhen.Can't believe that we're actually going to have a worse summer than we did last year.
Mental.
But we must sell to buy rememberWhen you're Spurs (9th richest club in the world etc etc) and you finish 17th with 22 losses, your summer window should 100% be something like Oblak/ter Stegen, Guehi, Bastoni, Robinson, Barella, MGW/Eze, Rodrygo/Nico Williams, Isak/Osimhen.
But nope, we got Takai, Danso, Kudus & Tel. In other words: a nobody kid from Japan only here for commercial purposes, a decent international defender but who'd be nowhere near Pool/City/Woolwich squads, a blatant opp signing from struggling Spam, and a Bayern reject who contributed as much as Timo Werner.
I'm not a hater, but it has been a major Levy weakness. In the post-Hoddle era, Arnesen helped turn around our transfer strategy, and though he was 'illegally' poached by Chelsea, he left a legacy in good "player trading", which helped develop the squad. Comolli's role and relationships were never properly defined and he was associated with the board shenanigans that did for Jol. Redknapp didn't want a DoF and did well, nor did Poch, who also did well. Arguably they were right, but...
... then came the tunnel of stadium financing, where we really needed someone at a higher level looking after the squad strength and balance, though it's true that finances and covenants (etc.) were a real issue. When Levy came out the other side, he hired Paratici, which was an excellent move, but he was unlucky with the Fifa thing and court case. Nevertheless the Paratici purchases and his continuing involvements as a consultant were all good.
Munn turned out to be a bad choice, but it seems Lange returns us roughly to where we were with Paratici, with the added benefit of Venkatesham. We must hope that all this is for the long term... As I said, my own hope that Levy has learned from experience that he should distance himself from the football side of things.
There is no doubt that so far this summer window our transfer business has been slow and underwhelming compared to the likes of Liverpool and the Chavs but i dont think there is any need to push the panic button just yet.
We have a new manager through the door in Thomas Frank someone who is a highly accomplished and respected tactician in the game.
He will undoubtedly want to bring new signings in as quick as possible to work with them before the season kicks off but he also needs and wants to assess the squad he has inherited to make the best decisions for the club going forward
All of the scouting and analytical team behind the scenes will be drawing up lists of potential new signings who will fit into Frank's style
MGW would've added something to the squad we have but he's decided to stay at Forrest so we move on.
There is no point making signings for the sake of it they have to be right and sometimes that takes time
For one of the first times ever i think Levy will spend big this summer we just have to watch this space to see who it is We go in for ( we like many clubs havent really been linked with anyone so i get transfer news is quite frustrating even if 98% of the time its bullshit)
I think you're closer to the mark the many suspect. Something doesn't make sense. All the new revenue money talk, with bids of £115 million on the table and talking up moves for Wharton with club retainers like Gold nodding along....then two weeks getting brutalised by Marnakis and we end up in a cage with the a ball-gag. Something went badly wrong. Naming rights indeed.

Super Cup is shaping up to be brutal AFJust over 2 weeks before we get battered in the super cup, and almost 3 weeks until start of the season.
Very much doubt any signings will happen while on tour, this is going to be another poor opening few weeks.
Club is obviously waiting for big clubs to go first, what are we likely to bring in, another 1 maybe 2 .
It's nothing new, we must have all expected this by now.
I don't trust them to bring tbe right signings in, they will all be alternative versions of what they couldn't get.

Could be an awkward moment for Frank and the team.
I don't think many of our players actually care. Wouldn't have finished 17th if they gave a shit. They live in London, earn very good money, train & play at mad facilities...and it's totally okay to lose plenty matches, zero pressure.Sad to have to talk about them lot down the road again, but judging by videos and social media their squad is absolutely buzzzing at the signing of Gyokeres. Given them all a real lift, which I’m sure will last going into the season.
Compare and contrast to us. After the high of Bilbao the players are not stupid. Like the fans, they’ll know we’re being left short again gojng into the grind of the PL and CL. Words cannot express how much I loathe the owners of this club.
He is not wrong though
Just a reminder...our owners invest about 5.3mil a year of their own money into the club.We are only a loss making company on paper, due to the depreciation on the stadium, a stadium we don’t start to pay off for another 20+ years (a stadium they revalued up by 500m last year, so the ongoing depreciation will be artificially even higher going forward, but that 500m upside just goes/went to shareholders equity rather than profit)
Yes we owe monies on transfers, but that is a short term cashflow issue, and any other club would just receive a short term influx (either from banks through loan or overdraft, or by a shareholder loan).
We have an enormous amount of PSR space, if we so desired to use it.
What will prevent us from doing anywhere near the amount of business we should is
a) willingness of owners to invest more than they need to. (You can guarantee Frank will have suggested he can compete well on all fronts with minimal investment on top of the players we had last season during interview, which will have been music to clubs ears)
B) we already have a bloated squad. Club won’t want to be paying monies to players that aren’t going to feature.
But don’t buy into the club spiel that it is cashflow due to owing significantly for previous transfers, as that is an easy fix.
It stinks of West Ham/Fulham/Everton/Palace...If and when Son goes our senior players for the 3 forward positions are Kudus, Richarlison, Solanke and Johnson. That is so mediocre and lacking depth its scary.
PSG having no time to train is a big deal. We have a chance. And Frank will understand full well how much time and goodwill it will buy him to nick that one game, he'll have tricks up his sleeve.
Do think solanke was an ange recommendation as well. Should have got guissary imo who ended up at dortmund last summer. We need a natural goalscorer imo. A solksjaer type striker back in the day playing for united. Clinical.Just scout better. Solanke prime example came at end of window when there were no links or anyone else interested. Last min dot com we roll up and stump up over £60M for a 27 yr old with one decent season. Surely out scouting team could have identified another striker somewhere in the world who is better.
