Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I mean this is a silly argument.

I want him far far away from player identification and raking around the bargain basement looking for a sweet, sweet opportunistic signing.

But he sets the budgets, the direction of travel and signs the cheques, so he's involved to some degree and will be until he's no longer chairman.

So yes the bald fucker can get on with opening his wallet.

Not really. Pointing directly at him to sign a player is dumb. Suggesting he needs to be in London is dumber. That's the point I was replying to.

That is very different to signing off on transfers - something I'm pretty sure he could do from a sun lounger in barbados.

i.e. "why is he in Asia he should be signing players" like asia is some kind of backwards country without emails and internet.

Does anyone find it extremley odd that we rarely if ever get linked to LB's (and not just this window whilst we get linked to a thousand different players in ever other position?
Only 10% of the world's population is left side dominant, an even smaller % are Premier League level footballers, and then some play different positions, some are even goalkeepers! So you see signing a left back is actually pwetty hard...

Being linked with el khannouss as a MGW alternative, can say I know much about him, apparently pretty good player in a pretty bad team.

You do know Wharton is injury-prone and that he isn't Busquets/Pirlo/Vieira/Yaya/Essien?

Kid's played less than 40 PL games and has plenty holes to his game.

You keep advocating for making him our 100mil signing...that's just pure madness.

I’m not on the Wharton train like that either and I wanted him from Blackburn

I’d rather give Gray half a season of minutes and watch him overtake him

It's now reached the stage of trying to get excited over any random link and pretending that he's exactly what we always needed even though I barely know who he is. It's a bad stage.

Meh. There ain’t really a MGW alternative that’s why the saga is so frustrating.

What made MGW special is hes a bull physically, great presser, strong both in the tackle and duels, versatile. El Khannouss is just a more run of the mill central creative player but you can’t play him at 8 with say Bentancur behind him and expect it to actually stand up to more physical midfields. MGW gives you real athleticism, defensive structure, transition orchestration, and the creative element.

A semi reasonable MGW alternative would be ironically Paqueta from Spam.
