And we had him at the club for a short time...
Jesus Christ - I despair. We have one truly world class player, one player who use to be world class but is fading faster than Labours hopes of winning the next general election and the rest are a mis match of players who might get in the squad but I doubt would start... the fact you added Bentancur and Richarlison sinks your argument quicker than the Titan submersible. At best, we might get a push on two or three of these players i.e. they're probably on a par with the player starting in their position but none of that lot would start a single game for the Bin Dippers, City or Woolwich.
Anyone who believes Solanke and Johnson are elite front men, is something I would need explaining to me!
Elite = EPL prolific and CL feared.

Obviously Levy, Vinai and Lange not fussed by that deadline because they are all on a completely different continent
This whole argument would go a lot farther if there were one single young talent of recent years who we let slide away and ended up becoming a player we desperately regretted losing, one who could really help us.I don't necessarily subscribe to this argument tbh, I think it's the culture of the club that stymies a lot of our youth players' careers, trust and belief in a player goes a hell of a long way towards their early development, and bigger clubs in our league afford far better opportunities to their youth players than we do. Quansah is never a £35m player, if we signed Quansah for that much people on here would be fucking fuming, Harvey Elliott is probably a £20m player but would you be surprised if they get £40m+? Neither are likely good enough for Liverpool long term but they have been given ample opportunities to show their worth in the first team, something basically none of our youth players ever get.
Not one Leicester City fan was raving about how Kane would end up being a goalscoring sensation when he came back from them on loan, but a bit of faith and some meaningful minutes in strong lineups gave him the platform to become the player he did. In the position we're in I would like to see more meaningful minutes given to someone like Donley who actually had a very good loan and is 20, so ripe for some PL experience, but what's the likelihood he ends up in the championship? Could it be that he's not good enough? Possibly so, would we likely be getting £25-30m if we gave him say 50 apps in a Spurs shirt over 2-3 seasons instead of farming him out on loan to the championship until the last year of his deal and selling him to a championship club for a pittance? Almost certainly.
For a club that seems to be going all in on youth development over the near term we seem to really have a one-track approach to it, everything with a player hinges on whether they can start 50 games a season for Spurs or else do they need to be on loan at a level that basically does not benefit them whatsoever, wasting whatever early potential they may or may not have had? Making £60-100m a season on academy players that are not good enough would be a huge boon in the market, one afforded to clubs like Chavs and Liverpool that we seem intent on ignoring.
My bad! Salah!
Don’t pay the agents fees either - big part of getting deals done is greasing the wheels so those locusts get weighed in and become advocates for the dealBecause we don't have any real recruitment strategy in terms of big player signings. We chance our arm with low ball offers at this level and when they (obviously) fall through we end up with the dregs of the footballing world, who you have mentioned.
ballsy tartt?Im In the minority here but im all for this. He gets alot of stick and I understand why but at the right club I could see a big revival.
Experienced in big games, and is a ballsy t**t too, much needed.
Unless we sign Rodrygo, this looks like another disastrous window. Looks like a late scrape around at the last minute.
you're missing the point.
