Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We're a Champions League club.

If Woolwich or Chelsea or any other club of similar size and wealth to us had finished 17th but qualified for CL football they wouldn't have an issue signing elite players.

We do. Because of the way the owners run the club.
Sleepy GIF

It was funny.
Some of us can laugh at our own expense. Self depreciating humous is a thing some of our fans can't comprehend.

What does it mean though?
Does it mean we need the cash to use to buy other players?
Or does it mean we need the squad space?
If it's the former, then there really is a big problem at Spurs and finances have been catastrophically mismanaged. If it's the latter, then we really need to put big boy trousers on and tell the unwanted players to find new clubs and for us to "leak" their availability.

Must admit that I lost a bit of interest after the MGW saga!

Sell to Buy FC

Only issue with that strategy is our inability to sell.

Don't know about you lot but the positivity of the final and appointment of a sensible manager like frank has pretty much gone. Season statrts in 2 weeks, we have made 1 good signing, have more injuries and got bent over by Notts Forrestts owner so not the best of times
Don't know about you, but I'm still buzzing about the final and really looking forward to what Frank can do.

But then again, I'm not a miserable git.

I will say that is an awful apples to oranges table from CBS Sports.

It is based on EBITDA, which means for premier league clubs means does not include the transfer fees of the players

Indeed however the Deloitte football money league has down as the 9th highest revenue generating club in the world.
That's their latest calc from Jan 2024 to Jan 2025.
So half of that with no Europe and no cup games , and no CL at all.

There's other factors of course like stadium debt, transfer debt etc
But regardless the numbers aren't in Levys favour with his mid table club routine.
He can't bamboozle the fans anymore as the data is out there

The frustration is with buying young players that have the potential to improve, but may not improve the first team immediately. However I guess the argument is that they are young and have a resale value (see Chelsea sales). But this falls down if they don't meet up expectations and so have limited resale value... Sorry feels like a circular argument

I kind of agree, more so on Wissa.

Paulinha might be able to do a decent job. A 29 year old striker. No value.
I’m at the stage of fuck value and sell on. Wissa who I think offers something different could make a difference for us. 29 is still young and for a striker he knows his position well and know what’s needed. I think it’s a great age for a striker. If he came in and done well for two season then get fuck all for him who cares. We buy younger players and can’t ever sell them anyway so it makes no difference. Buy players that make a difference now.
We can’t sell Richy. We’ll not get a good return on Johnson and probably lose out big time on the Gray transfer unless he surprises us and kicks on.

Matt Law with a morning mood check to lower expectations.

Fuck Palinha anyway, whether we sell Bissouma or not. If they think Palinha is the missing profile in our midfield then they are more hopeless than they already look.

Even our bullshit rumours are depressing

A. I’d rather keep Bissouma than waste another 30m on Palinha.

B. It is not our inability to sell that is the issue, it’s our inability to buy players worth a wank in the first place.
