I tho k biss still has quality as an 8. Him with palhinha behind him may work. We do have options like bent Sarr and berg as well.

May be but which player is? Also he has had two years of Ange where he was basically our only creative player so all the pressure was on him. Then he had FBs playing in his position. To me when he came on v goons he adds that little bit extra control and keeping the ball with little passes and one twos. No other player offfers what he does.In your opinion, which I respect, but not for me. Just not consistent enough!
I think the intention would be for him to rotate. Also o don’t think we need him for some games where we will have most of the ball but b likes of pool and citeh he’d be useful.Good signing Paulinha. May not be the no6 most wanted - but he is certainly a profile we don’t have in squad.
Hope is he has still got that sharpness from 2 yrs back. If he brings that form ,we have some player on our hands. He will free up likes of Bergvall Maddison
Yes Stel was trying to make this point on the spurs 5 but the others were shutting him down. I think the point was under levy we arnt going to buy a PL winning team. Frank was bought in partly bcos the need to develop players not give him ready made players like a conte would have wanted.TBF, we hired a manager who spent decades as a youth coach and I don't think it was coincidental. I don't think "backing Frank" looks like what you think it does.
Like Poch, he wasn't brought to Spurs to buy a squad for. He was brought to Spurs to get players like VDV, Spence, Johnson, Odobert, Bergvall, Sarr, etc. to kick on and become the next generation of top Spurs talent
Yes beat up our own players yet cuti has a good game in the EL everyone goes crazy. So what if it was in the EL. I’m not saying he needs to be starter but give him some minutes. Anyways what has Tel done in the PL for all the minutes he got.
This the thing Frank said he knew about spurs traditions, wanted to play front foot attacking football. But really he is going to be more conte ball. Will fans accept that?Assuming that this means Bissouma is headed for the exit. With Gray, Bergvall and Sarr still being young; an older more experienced head in midfield.
Watching Spurs play against Woolwich yesterday, gave some hints on the style that Frank may adopt. It looks like we will surrender possession and sit back. The forwards won't press their defenders aggressivity, but once the ball comes into the centre of the pitch, the midfielders will steal the ball and play it quickly to the forwards.
I’d just go get eze or SimmonsOdobert for me has really top potential. But if you sell Son you need another winger and Malik Fofana would be a top signing: he is ambidextrous and can play on left and right.
As creative midfielders you have Maddison, Kulusevski and Bergvall, they are good players but you could add another and El Khannouss is a top talent.
But the real problem is the striker. I agree: i don't think you will sign another, but this is a mistake: you lack goals. Solanke can be a squad player, not a starter for a CL team, sign him for 65m was a mistake and you should accept this.
Plus he can’t fashion a goal out of nothing. He is not and has never been a great goal scorer. How many times last he was through on goal and fucked it up.Solanke's movement in the box to create space/chances isn't great I'm not convinced he will ever be a top goal scorer for us
We are fucked
just to clarify; When I call him a great footballer - I’m not referring to his level of performance, simply his attributes. On paper he’s composed, technical, and makes high IQ decisions.HOw many times have you seen Zubamendi play? Did you follow every game os Real Socidad last season. Does the spanish league replicate the intensity of the Prem. Obviousily with the scum and Liverpool's interest he is rated highly but he did not stand out massively against a midfield that consisted of Cassemiro and Fernandes playing deep.
I posted something similar recently. We could have workman like midfield like dippers did but you need a front three who have pace, skill and goal scoring ability not to mention hard working. That dippers 3 of salah mane and bobby worked their socks off. I’m afraid our attackers are pants bar kudus who we have just signed. Everyone goes on about tel and Wilson saying they have potential based on what ? Every player has potential. We needed top quality not punts.Palhinha, Gray, Bentancur, sarr, bergvall, maddison, kulu.
7 players for 6 positions. That's our options for the midfield 3. We may lineup many games with sarr or bergvall etc instead of a traditional 10. Similar to the more workhorse like midfield Liverpool used to use.
Odobert, Tel, kudus, johnson, richy, solanke. That's 6 players for 3 positions. Also its not strong enough imo.
Im absolutely all for having a very solid base to the team, keeps G/A low and being stubborn bastards to play against. But if you don't have enough for other teams to worry about going the other way then you're in trouble.
I did not see all the game yesterday but we probably found that once we lost the threat of kudus and instead had johnson thats when Woolwich really pushed on and penned us in abit?
We need another quality wide player or a physical monster out wider to carry the threat.
£55m on a 5-year deal (I assume) would see his value to BM at about £33m 2-years in…? Plus he’s 2-years older, there’s an argument that we are over-paying…You can’t understand why 30 year old Palhinha on loan is a cut price option, even despite the wages? I mean this to say, is this a semantics issue, or do you just genuinely not get it?
Cut-price deal is fair here bc he was signed for £55m last summer and Bayern have now literally cut his price in half, including a buy option for half that fee. They’ve clearly been doing everything they can to get rid and the buy option would see them lose £30m in value.
So, yes, this is an opportunistic deal with us getting a ready-now 6, as opposed to the proper quality long term solutions which have been rumoured like Baleba/Wharton. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad deal, but it does mean it’s a cut price deal.
16 goals and 5 assists last season and you would sell him?I’d sell Johnson to whoever will pay decent money for him. He just no great footballing skills and is weak. If frank wants hard workers, some say MADDs me be at risk, then surely Johnson should be worried.
