We don’t need association trained. We are loaded on the 4 slots for that with
Spence
Davies
Gray
Johnson
Maddison
Solanke

EPL experience is a fallacy. Did ManC worry about that when they bought Cherki, Rodri, Haaland, Diaz, Silva x2, etc?

We need 2-3 first teamers who improve us. The new regime of Vanai and Lange with their data-led approach have to make the right calls.
You've listed City players who are top, top draw. Players who can adapt, they could probably play the game in the dark!
We shop at the next level below so every advantage (EPL experience) is vital and needs to be considered.

Any suggestions as I have no idea except maybe Conor Gallagher and he is more defensive. Oh for the days of Hoddle, Waddle and Ardiles.
Nah! I'm not into Football Manager anymore, so i don't know 😉

But Connor Gallagher might not be a bad shout, now that we have Palhinha.

And of course we now need a playmaker. But i wanted one before Madders got injured. He just ain't a title challenging playmaker in my eyes. Injured a lot, and very inconsistent.

Therefore i was happily surprised when we went after Gibbs-White, as in Frank obviously also recognized that problem.

I've said for a long time now, that the most important positions for us fill are:

- DMC - preferably two
- FB - two more defensive minded fullbacks, one on the left, and one on the right, to compete with Porro and Udogie.
- AMC - a better and more consistent than Madders

And in that order

All the winger bonanza on this forum just makes me exhausted.

Ps: would also love Nico's brother Iñaki Williams here. Yeah he's 31 but that's top level experience & maturity we don't have a lot of, plus he's fit as a fiddle, proper unit of a lad. He's a right winger so we could move his fellow Ghanaian Kudus to the 10 now Madders is likely out for months.

Man is good for 15-20 G/A every season and if a clever coach like TF can help him find a way to convert more/miss fewer big chances, them numbers could be even higher. Also creates a lot for his teammates, proper altruistic kinda guy. And he doesn't run away from defensive duties, which would be welcome by our beloved Pedro.

With him & Brennan sharing minutes, though never of them are Salah level, I'd be pretty confident with our RW options. Rather that than another unproven kiddo...like our LW.

And yeah of course if he came in and loved it at N17, that could help with his shiny little brother down the line.

We’ve been pretty shit at recruiting from the PL because we don’t shop from the top shelf.

All our best signings except Bale were from outside the PL
Not strictly true. Dembele, Alderweireld, Wanyama, Trippier. Some of our best ever signings of the last decade have been from the PL.

Even the likes of Hojbjerg, Johnson, Maddison can be said to be solid successes as signings too.

Generally there’s no rhyme or reason to what will be a successful signing though. There’s more risk with adaptation with non-PL ones, but PL signings you pay a tax to get top CL quality generally.

PALHINHA!!! His name is PALHINHA!

GOD DAMNIT!!

Angry Alan Rickman GIF
DAMN IT its DAMN IT not DAMNIT.

Isn’t that what Herbert Hoover said about the Colorado river?

I really do think when we're looking for players, one of the things we surely must start to do better., is to start taking account of the injury records of potential signings. It needs to be factored-into the equation..

Most people work or have worked and it's often true to say those who fall ill, are also those who are unfortunate enough to also pick up various ailments here and there. No rhyme or reason necessarily, but some people have a greater propensity whereas others are less prone.

Prior to Maddison joining us, he picked-up injuries at Leicester and, pretty regularly. Quite serious at that. Jesus oftem got injured at City. Nkunku is the same at Chelsea. .Some players are more susceptible to onjuries, and whilst they can sometimes have a good run of 2 or 3 months, they nearly always fall foul to an injury soon enough. Mason Mount and Like Shaw at United. Mortimer. It's not just us, even though it seems that way.

I just think that whilst some of these players are quality when on the pitch, It's arguably better to steer clear. because what they give you when they're available is completely offset by the amount of time they spend on the treatment table.

Of course, there are exceptions for some players, who buck a trend, injury prone players too often get injured, and it's rarely a surprise.

Been a lot of people touting El Khannouss as a good option for the 10. I don’t know about him, but I guess he’s still getable.

Otherwise we’re running out of options
