I don't remember competing with any top 6 sides to sign Son. In fact, I seem to recall him being a bit of an 11th hour "who is he" signing.
I also vividly remember him struggling early on at Spurs and making noises about going back to Germany.

Exactly this. No more prospects to send on loan and never see in the first team thereafter. For CL and a top 5 finish, we need good quality, proven players, now. There’s actually no excuse not to get them.
