RB Leipzig signed Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025 for €50.00m on a 2 and a half year contract [Jan 30, 2025 to Jun 30, 2027]

Does that sound a bit off? 50 million for two and a half years

Got fucking disaster written all over it IMO, bring a renowned party boy to London and try and motivate him to get back to his best in a team he will immediately think he's the best player in whether he still has the talent to back it up or not... Not keen.

London is not exactly the party capital of the universe. He is currently in Manchester which is a good enough place to party.

I remember the same worries about Ginola when he signed. Yeah he loved going out but he also did the business on the pitch. If Grealish comes it's because Frank wants him and Grealish will do all he can to help the team.

His wages are approx the same as Son’s. That’s part of his beef with Real because he wants a new contract to match the other stars and they won’t give it.

Thing is, he will want a salary upgrade from us that would make him our best paid player ever and also dictate what Romero and our other players ask for in new contract negotiations.

And the last time Levy brought a new player in on the same wages as our top earners was Ndombele and we’ve never done that since.

I doubt we are even considering Rodrygo tbh, let alone bidding. Real just want to raise some funds by selling him.
Then that's a positive because our salaries are too low and need pushing up if we have any hope of being competitive.

The way I see it, we were told the stadium etc was needed for us to compete, it would be a game changer, well it hasn't been , I'd have rather given Poch a couple more seasons at the Lane as that Wembley Transition killed us , then who knows what might have happened.

I doubt they would have invested in Poch squad any differently once the stadum was in their heads.

Tbh the player Poch needed was a ceiling raiser for 70m+ and top wages. We still haven't signed that marquee level player yet and we've been in the stadium long enough now

When you're worth millions there are dozens if not hundreds of exclusive places to party in London, doubt you can say the same for Manchester. Ginola was a totally different era at this stage as well, half the players in the PL were out on the tiles after matchday on the weekend in that period, it's not the case now with them being so well paid and fitness levels being astronomical by comparison, players can't afford to get rat arsed and still perform consistently any more.

Manchester has got a lot going on these days, I work there two days a week and it’s a bit of a boom town right, skyscrapers going up all over the place, nice fancy restaurants all over, weather is a bit shitter than London but if anything the vibe and energy of the place is better than London right now.

He started 22 league games for them last season, came off the bench in 8 and would likely see a similar number of starts next season so that's a bit of a disingenuous assessment of his playing time, he may be keen to move but certainly not here. However much we want to manifest it players around the world would probably view us in the same light as Villa, Newcastle and current United, not Liverpool, Woolwich, City, Bayern, Real etc. He would likely move to one of those clubs for no substantial payrise, but a club like Spurs has to sweeten the deal significantly to tempt a player AWAY from one of those clubs, especially if they're starting more often than not (just about).

Think you are out of date, now ....... 'The 24-year-old went from starting every match since his ascendancy to the first team, helping the team win two CL titles along the way, to being benched in the Los Blancos’ biggest games at the end of last season.'

Same in World Club competition over summer - bench but only a few minutes playing .
