Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Probably our best run in the past 60 years was after being relegated. We bounced back and won
1977: Relegated
1978: Promoted
1981: FA Cup
1982: FA Cup
1984: UEFA Cup

That sort of fluidity just wouldnt be possible today. No promoted team is winning that within six years of promotion.

It was a different age but you don’t want to acknowledge how much tougher the football landscape has become now. You pine for a simpler age when FA Cups were glorious and players earned £500/week.

That’s fine and beautiful but it’s not the world we’re living in.
I have said we got caught out by the arrival of Sky and CL at the wrong time . I just don’t accept it takes 25 years and counting to understand it has changed. If anyone fails to understand this dynamic it’s Levy. Here is a statistic for you as you like them so much.Leicester were nearly relegated then won the league , their owner had been in place at that time for appreciably less time than Levy . They then won the FA cup ,something Levy has still failed to do . Yes they have been relegated twice but that is under the stewardship of the son , I think on both occasions . Statistically Leicester’s owner destroyed Levy on success and time taken to achieve it . With a much smaller club from a far worse starting position as well I might add. Those my friend are modern era stats that cannot be refuted as they have no era bias

It's not terrible for a one off cup final we're we will be on a deep block all game.

I've gone from being excited for the Super Cup to now, "maybe we should just focus on Burnley"

A lot of words and (sometimes unjustified) nostalgia here. But most of it is completely off topic.

Some people are disingenuously suggesting that we should be expecting to compete for the league or champions league even though that hasn’t been where we are as a club in the past 60 years.

If your argument is we should be competing for domestic cups then that is different.
Ah the 'so it was so it must be 'mindset. My father in law a laureate in his scientific discipline loathed this one, logical fallacy. We could also equally expect a paradigm shift after Levy's bold league and ECL winners speech. But whatever we've always been shit!!!

Grealish is just twenty nine, and a player that we could get on a season loan, and is obviously English.

He has skill and pace and can pass the ball, and chip in with a goal or two. He made thirty two appearances last season and and one hundred and twenty over the past three seasons for City.

We need this type of player and the bullshit about his attitude is a myth, he played over thirty games last season for Pep, a disciplinarian.

Fans in here are very picky, believing that half the players available in Europe are lining up to play for us, but wake up and smell the coffee, they are not.
20 appearances last year in the league. 13 as a substitute. 715 total minutes played which is ~35 per appearance (averaged)

20 the year before 10 as a substitute 1,000 minutes

28 the year before 5 as a substitute over 2,000 minutes played.

That is a worrying trend for me in terms of appearances and minutes played particularly when you consider how poor City were (relative to normal) last season.

Could he have a resurgence if he moves? Possible’ but I would suggest unlikely to be the player we need

That’s my opinion but if we sign him I most certainly hope I am wrong

Obviously I’m bitter because I want us to sign this player but it’s embarrassing what football is allowing clear lake to turn it into.

They’ve signed 40 players in 2 years or some crazy shit like that. Then they just pull dodgy shit to move out unwanted humans to make space for new ones because they never really bothered to make a plan other than “The best ones will stay”.

I'm aware he's got some good qualities, but those stats are damning. I'd take him on loan if he got a haircut and they covered half his wages. He's not going to play as much as we would need him to, so why take the risk?

That MF is going to just cough up the ball every time,

We will be watching PSG play football and Spurs hoping to snide one on the break or from a set piece,

I can live with that in a major final but for pre season, surely you want to at least try to play

Odobert, Spence, Bergvall have to step up. Whole purpose of us spending money on them is to play for first team. Tbh Spence is becoming a top player now. Need a fucking top striker though. Solanke flits in and out team.
