I imagine we have been told there is no way Rodrygo will consider coming to us, regardless of the contract offer?
This allows Enic to bandy about various media rumours that we were willing to offer xxx for the player, plus give him xxx, knowing full well it will never be accepted.

We’re seriously going into the Super Cups without any attacking reinforcements. Unbelievable. Why even win the Europa League if this was how we were going to approach the following season?

Hahahahahah Rodrygo.

I mean is there anyone in our fanbase that believes this is anything but a "we tried" moment? Anyone?
Not exactly. I’d be very surprised and quite impressed if it happened.

However - where else is he going to go? I’m always reading on here that we are a massive side and I agree to an extent. Taking into account infrastructure, finance, potential, etc we’d be in the top dozen clubs in the world. Do any of the larger clubs want this guy? Not looking like it. Whispers of both the London red and blue plagues, but nothing really.

As far as affordability goes, I’d hope that the player who has been told he is surplus to requirements at the largest club in the world, knows his direction is downwards and that should be the case with his salary too.

Finally, champions league will maybe be a pull. The seven star training facilities. London (although I don’t particularly care for the place) seems to have a magnetic pull too.

There’s a world where this can happen.

But it almost certainly won’t.

He'll stay at Madrid, like Romano said. I don't think they'll force him out.

I don't think any of us think it's even that. This is media speculation, at best. At worst it's an agent using names to get bids in.

It's a glorified friendly. Who cares.

If that was the case and since you think Ally Gold is the club mouthpiece, wouldn't he have mentioned something? Everyone and their mother knows Rodrygo is not going to join us. Do you really think there's any credibility in what's being "reported" by some rags?

I mean, seriously, do you wake up every day trying to make up shit to bash ENIC?

He's got 3 years left on his contract at Madrid. He doesn't have to take a pay cut.
He could dig in and sit it out. They may need to fund any difference if they want a fee for him.

Its a friendly unless you win it

With respect, the do-called Super Cup means nothing. Just another pointless game.

Your point on not bringing in attacking reinforcements however is correct, but related more to a sense of preparedness and intent for the coming season.

If Levy wants to talk aspiration and place undue pressure on Frank's shoulders, and think forum or attending fans will be silent, or not end up voting with their feet I think he will be very surprised.
