And both Spence and Gray can cover as RB. S
And both Spence and Gray can cover for Porro.

Lets focus on the important positions.

Id say that the argument is that we don't want players who can cover....we want players who excel in those positions.

Else we might as well say Bergvall can cover in goal and why sign a striker.....Spence can cover.

Good post. I think this could be the way forward for us. We already have a decent squad and added two very good signings in Kudus and Palhinha. And if we get two good signings more, that fit into the way Frank wants to play, i think it can be a good season.

We dont want to do business as Man Utd does it. Year after year they buy alot of overpriced players, and every year most of them flop.

My only real concern is Maddisons injury. We must sign a quality creative player.
I think it's a good squad that needs a Men in Black style 'forget the last 2 years except Bilbao' flash stick thing for for all the fans really. I get we're sick of it but it's a fresh start again with Frank, he's not got out and out superstars but there are gems across this squad.

United have spent more than any club in world football bar Chelsea in the last 10 years and they're squad has been a mess for years. They're in a similar situation to us with players on high wages compared to their output and/or bad injury records that they struggle to get shot of.

I'm 100% we get another 10 in, still have a niggling tiny Harry Kane hunch.

It’s like watching Odobert all over again.

Is there a CL level technician there? Absolutely. Lovely touch, some nicely weighted passes, clearly sees everything, ball sticks to him.

Is there a PL level athlete there? Absolutely not, certainly not yet at least.

Yeah, the Odobert comparison is very apt. Similar numbers last year with Leicester to his season at Burnley. I would still take him as I’d prefer a team with a raw passer than a team without a passer but he is being talked about like a saviour now by the online fanbase and it feels a stretch.

I don't agree.

For one thing El Khannouss is two years older, and for another statements that the electrically quick Odobert is similar athletically are ridiculous.

Odobert successfully beats his man with a dribble, which is his core purpose as a winger.

El Khannouss purports to be this silky chance creator, but he's not actually doing the ball progression or chance creation you would want, he's not succeeding.

I know he's young but he's not THAT young. A 10 that was given the free creative role he was at Leicester has to be generating more end product, I'm sorry, I'm a no on this one.

You know I am 100% in agreement with you, but do you know what irks me, Levy refuses to be honest about the situation, if rather than coming out and saying "we want to win the premier league and champions league" in that interview with Vinai, he had said "we will need to approach the coming window opportunistically, we don't expect to raise much from player sales, had large net spend under Ange and sizeable committed spending for the summer window and we will have a "wait and see" year with only opportunistic punts if a doable deal becomes possible on a big enough name. People might not want to hear that but it would be incredibly realistic assessment of our current holding pattern in the market.

Why is he increasing the pressure on the manager in interviews before he's had a chance to watch us play a competitive fixture, then doing fuck all in the market to improve the squad that finished 17th the year prior? It just makes us look fucking stupid tbh. Once Newcastle get a body in the door we are quickly gonna become the butt of the joke of this window, even fucking Everton have improved more than we have, lest we forget they finished above us...

Anyone seen the links to Marc Casado? Palhinha understudy maybe? Not seen enough of him to have a strong opinion, anyone?
His passing ability is better than anything we have in CM. Unfortunately, I don't think there have been any credible links and with Paulinha, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Bergvall and Gray, I doubt we would bring in another CM unless we sell 2 of those.

Yet as a club we abide by PSR why? When nobody else is bothered by it.
Because, as I have pointed out at length elsewhere, we have the least capitalized ownership group of any of our rivals.

ENIC aren't even top half of the table in net worth anymore on most recent lists, and their shares in Tottenham represent 30% of Lewis+Levy's combined net worth.

Comparatively, every other club in the "top 6", plus Newcastle, Everton, Fulham, Villa, and West Ham have ownership groups with more free capital that can be snuck into the club than ours.

Could ENIC inject some cash? Absolutely. But they're tighter than our rivals because they're poorer than our rivals. The idea they're stupid or that its out of malice is not accurate. They honestly just don't have the money for the position they currently inhabit in 2020s football.

The only qualification that I would add to that is that ENIC has/had access to greater capital, but it was a conscious decision to organize Tottenham as a self-supporting business entity.

Our rivals - and most of the top clubs in Europe - have instead chosen to organize their clubs predominantly as investment vehicles and/or as offshore assets for oligarchs from politically unstable nations. For them, spending money inflate the asset value is the entire point; for us it has to be part of a long term plan to grow the club to the point the requirements can be covered by free cash flow.

Anyone else now feeling sorry for Daniel and the much maligned poor old Joe . They could easily sell the club to someone with the financial muscle to take us forward , but they have the real estate projects that will allow them to rinse every cent before selling up . As owners they have every right to do this , as fans we have every right to want them to fuck off yesterday . The bit that baffles me is why there are any fans that seem to rejoice in them hanging around until every last cent has been squeezed .

What is the upside for any fan supporting the way the club is run ?

We know after 25 years success will be minimal and they sure as hell are not going to cut loyal fans in on a slice of the action when they cash in .

So what exactly is the appeal as a fan of the ENIC model

At least this is how I see it

Who do you think rejoices in their hanging around?

Then they should stop holding the club for ransom, and turn it over to people who can run it. I've been saying the same thing that Levy, because ENIC have checked out, doesn't have the personal wealth to run a football club this size, how it should be run.

We're treading water now, teams that have been relegated quite recently are now finishing ahead of us, and teams struggling to stay in the league a few years ago are more our direct rivals than or rivals for years.

They've done good things, no question, but they've taken us as far as they can go with how modern football is now run, and or trajectory is only heading one way.

wage bill must be under 35% vs revenue now… only have 3 players earning >£100K PW

Woolwich - 16
A Villa - 13
Chelsea - 15
Liverpool - 13

Im not really sure what happened to you these past years, but you’ve become a much more assertive and opinionated person than you used to be. I remember you sitting back years past on here but now an insistent presence.
