Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

A real ambitious owner would get…
1. Rodrygo to replace Son
2. Get Paz, Eze or Akliouche for number 10
3. Get Ederson for 6/8
4. Get Robinson for LB
5. Get Hincapie or Guehi for LCB

Bare minimum I’d take 1, 2 and 5.

I don't know what else Frank is going to say. He's a new employee where transfers aren't really his job, yet he's the one who has to face the media.

He's not going to have a Conte style rant two months into the job before a ball is kicked. I'd imagine he's frustrated too but he really can't be openly saying it.

Lange and Baldy get to hide behind Frank who is the public punching bag.

Personally I’d take Harvey Elliott , good range of passing , gets stuck in , decent shot on him , 22 years old and not huge money , wouid hit the ground running . I’m not saying he’s the answer to all our problems , I just think he would suit our system very well and he’s up for sale so shouldn’t be difficult to get over the line .

They’re all enthusiastic at the start. They all think they’re gonna be the one to change things.

Then the little bald vampire sinks his teeth into them and slowly sucks all that enthusiasm right out of them by replacing their best players with 19 year old prospects from Ligue 1 and wingers who’ve had a purple patch in the Eredivisie.

Wait and see how enthusiastic Frank is in 18 months time.
He will be very enthusiastic as he tries to rebuild his reputation somewhere else after we have destroyed it

Id just forget the defence for the time being. Frank's style naturally lends itself to making defences better as units than the sum of its parts.

We need to fully focus on being able to hurt other teams. 2 players needed.

Id go for paz and leao.

Im not very familiar with paz but he does look good. Younger than id want for a 10, we ideally need someone more complete now.

On leao, yes im not his biggest fan, hes lazy off ball BUT as I said defensively we will be ok. We can afford to have a player like that. Id much much rather rodrygo but thats a pipedream with these owners.

No kane or son to mask over all of Enic's deficiencies and lack of a solitary fuck about the football

We are in the doldrums

I have always wondered why they wore masks.

So what your saying is we are the "TK Max" of the Premier league! :levyhands:
This is exactly the issue — we only seem to sign players when we think we're getting a bargain, rather than targeting who we actually need. That’s how we’ve ended up with players like Richarlison and Kulusevski, who don’t have defined roles and are more like jack-of-all-trades. It’s also why we keep ending up with so many players who feel broken or misused.

Take the Raya situation, for example. We were interested, but then decided he was too expensive and went for Vicario instead. It’s not necessarily about quality — it’s about cost. And now even fans have started thinking this way. How many people last season said they’d accept Werner on loan if it meant we could invest elsewhere?

You’re seeing the same pattern again with Palhinha. People are already saying, “I’d take him if it means we can spend more in other areas.” It’s like we’ve been conditioned to think like bargain hunters rather than building a balanced, competitive squad.

Our transfer data lead strategy consists of - Does the player/club meet any of these conditions, tick any that are applicable:-

1. Is the player under 21?
2. Does the player have less than or approaching final 12 months of contract?
3. Do they have a release clause?
4. Are the players club in desperate need of money?
5. Does the players club owe us any money for previous transfers to deduct from transfer?

Priority list would be, the more yes’s to the above regardless of need of position.
Your Missing the most important factor - will they take £100K a week or Less............. I think if we actually broke our wage structure we would have had some more players in, its just players know they can go to other clubs and get a 50% + bump in wages

At the start of the window absolutely not but right now I'd take Billy Elliott.

Why’s it always got to be about “if the right opportunity arises”? Why do we not do what every other big club does and identify the best player available for the position, and go spend the money to get them?

Because we only need to sustain. We don't need to win anything or become competitive for all the fat cats to pick up their wages.
