Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

On Palhinha: I found him to be incredibly overrated during his Fulham tenure, I see his ball winning stats in the same way I see Adama Traore’s dribbling. You can’t rate a player just because they have one outstanding attribute.

The fact that Fulham replaced him with Sander Berge and retained their level of performance is mildly concerning to say the least.

He got found out at Bayern because he can’t pass wind. Same reason why PSG got rid of Ugarte after a season. Those are red flags to me.

Passing in our midfield was already a weakness; combativeness wasn’t. We needed a DLP at 6 far more than a shin kicker IMO.

Nobody will ever convince me that Hojbjerg was a necessity, sorry. We signed him after finishing 6th, He left us in 8th. Just because he was more “reliable” than Winks/Ndombele doesn’t make him good. Mediocre steady Eddie that talked a good game. I attach him immediately to Mourinho and that era that did us untold damage.

But it is not about one outstanding attribute. Did you watch the games we played against them? He was two heads above ANYONE we had in the midfield. Never had that kind of feeling with likes of Wharton.

Saying that Palhinha was/is just someone who kicks some shins is beyond ignorant and makes me very seriously question any knowledge on football. He has always been quite assured in possession. Yea, in terms of distribution, he ain't no Pirlo. But very few are all that in one.

COMPETITIVENESS WASN'T WEAKNESS? What the fuck am I reading really?!? My grandma could have walked through our midfield in last season. It was THE BIGGEST weakness of our midfield ffs. We had no one who would have kept focus throughout the game and actually FIGHT there. Either by tackling, closing down passing routes or anything.

Aghppphehhehee. I'll just give up. I feel I've read enough of utter by now. I feel that most people are totally brainwashed that only Pirloesque passing ability is mark of half-adequate midfielder. And everything else is totally pointless and useless. Like for example Wanyama addition would have done nothing at all to our squad then. Let it be then. Let the actual football show who is right and who is wrong. And I am 100% sure - if Bayern buy Wharton now (who everyone are jizzing over) and we would be linked to loan-to-buy him, everyone would come out with theories how shit he is and always has had. Cause his last season AND price-tag are 100% of what matters.

P.S regarding PEH - well... actually the fact of being better than Winks-Sissoko was what was needed at this point. This was his competition and he overplayed them all. Marginal improvements is name of the game. Yea, you can wait for chance to sign perfect player for low fee for 5 years and do nothing meanwhile. Or you can improve on what you have and then keep improving from there. Your call really.

Your sermons are shite.

They’re basically ‘we are tiny tiny spurs, how could we ever attract a player at palace? how could we ever hope to buy anything but some children while being tiny tiny champions league London based spurs’.

It’s unbelievably sad, cucked behaviour. Some of our fans have bought in to the ENIC model so willingly. Replace our owners today and tomorrow the profile of player willing to come here would transform.

That’s exactly what Levy would like Spurs fans to believe.

He even said it in the Neville interview

Right, but that was not the question I was asking.

You said we are miles and miles off. Where did you realistically expect us to get to from that position of miles and miles, considering the squad we have been building the last couple of years?
I think I answered that question pretty clearly. I expected us to kick on from the boost of CL qualification to be more aggressive in putting some experienced quality in the team around our developing younger players.

We've done less than I hoped, are continuing with some players I think aren't good enough, and the level of the top clubs in the league has escalated more than I expected. Then the unexpected blow to Maddison, a role and set of skills for which we were already lacking and over-reliant on him.

So we're very far off in a way that's disappointing and disheartening.

Never had that kind of feeling with likes of Wharton

Uh, the game at Selhurst park this season he was brilliant, controlled the midfield and made ours look like duffers.

Wharton at 20 was making an England squad. At 19 he was worth 20m having played in the championship. There is a gulf in actual talent between him and Palhinha.

The only reason he isn’t currently at a top 6 club is because palace want 100m+ for him which yeah .. is silly.

He’s had very many dominant, wonderful performances. His sole issue/worry is the fitness record.

Maddison ill give you but we will 100% bring in a number 10 before end of window.

Probably, but how good will that pplayer actually be is the issue. Likely be a cheap punt so it will still be a net loss.

With regards to me thinking we have gone backwards, I am talking about our transfer business after finishing 17th. Son was past it but he still contributed more goals and assists than Tel or Odobert will.

When I spoke about replacing Son, I meant an upgrade, not a downgrade.

son was not capapable of playing last season - I think giving a run to a young, hungry player will be net for that position.

oh my god you absolute clown, son couldn’t run anymore but still got 7 goals and 9 assists.. he was by a distance our best chance creator because he can actually kick.

And it wasn’t Johnson G/A either - he created from situations where individual moments were needed.

Yes he was cooked but his contributions still needed replacing. Our ‘young and hungry’ brigade might get you 4-5 contributions a season.

Son needed to go but he needed a mega star level replacement, someone who could somewhat adequately replace what he’s given us for seasons, loads of contributions and also star, match winning quality. A talisman.

Instead we got a couple of kids who have like 2 prem goals between them. It’s a disgrace. And anyone justifying it is one as well.

I’m going to refrain from dooming here bc this just sounds as if he doesn’t have a clue.

But it sounds realistic, doesn’t it? There were reports earlier saying saying we haven’t got a #10 in mind a WEEK from the PL season kicking off… Lange deserves to lose his job. How the fuck did we not prepare numerous contingency plans?

Looks like another couple of loan deals for our youngsters being tied up today. I know they're important for their development and I get it. But with the start of the season just around the corner, it does feel we are overlooking one important aspect of running a Premier League club...

Were you alive in 2014?
Kane was on that team.

I don't want to imagine there are posters here who weren't alive for Les Ferdinand and Steffen Iversen, but there probably are aren't there?
