Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sleepwalking into a 50+ game season again with an ok 11 and a bare back up squad. Who’d have thunk it?

Granted there’s a near month left of the window, but we’ll be playing catch up again, and resorting to third choice options to support Frank. Poor guy is already being left short.

To say there is absolutely no threat of relegation is wrong imo
We are a unbalanced squad
Always seem to have long term injuries
Poor recruitment plan
This is a ruthless league
You can’t keep doing what we are doing and don’t expect it not to go wrong at some time
Eventually not all the newly promoted teams will always go down
Law of averages say that won’t happen
Anything buying now will be panic buying with no even less of a plan than before

Any team that finishes 17th and doesn't take the threat of relegation the following season seriously in all fairness deserves to be in a relegation fight the following year.

So far Son has left, Solanke hasn't got even a full match in pre season under his belt, we've lost Maddison for pretty much the whole season before we've kicked a ball and Kulusevski is apparently out until the new year. We are in a significantly worse place than the squad that finished 17th last season.

It's an absolute shambles and we have barely 3 weeks to fix it yet again. It's appalling when only weeks ago our chairman said he wants to win the Premier League.

I don't expect reckless spending but I don't expect truly disastrous planning of the season so far.

Just look at the ruthless ambition Liverpool display. In for the best striker in the world / league. Trying their hardest to get in him in, and if it fails? They will go in big for a top top wide player instead

Yeah but last summer they barely signed anyone, I think just Chiesa, and their fans were outraged, lack of ambition, no support for new manager Slot, club were going backwards etc

A year later they are PL champions and are now going on a spending spree. Funny ol' game

Also apparently we were in for a senior CB again this summer right? Didn't we have a £70m bid for Guehi rejected in January? We have to fave the reality that our club may make bids occasionally as a publicity stunt. The guys still on the market and no moves again for him yet makes it seem that way.

Taking away the three newly promoted clubs
I wonder who has had the worst transfer window

What I don't understand is we bid 70 million for Marc Guehi at the end of Jan but palace turned it down due lack of time to bring in a replacement.

So in that case why didn't we bid 70 again once the window opened instead of 5 mil for Takai? What a mystery

Regarding Guehi, I get the impression he wasn't and isn't now interested in joining us. Anyway it looks like he wants to run his contract down and leave on a free next summer, probably to Liverpool

Question for anyone who definitively knows.

Do the numerous loans actually free up squad space as opposed to make clear that none of those who have departed are deemed good enough, at this stage.
