Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I want to be optimistic for the upcoming season, I don't expect to win the league in 3 or even 5 years, I believe in Frank's credentials and his tactical understanding, I refuse, if he "fails", it will not be on him. It's on our out-of-touch chairman and his unwillingness to commit to fulfilling his own ambitions. I want to be entertained watching Tottenham again. If Frank delivers that, I will back him to the end.
One caveat is that everyone kept saying squad is not a 17th placed squad. With a good coach we would be higher and players would improve. Regardless of how much we spend Frank does need to bring some of his so called coaching ability to the table. Obvs we need much better players but I reckon levy and the board have put their vision into Frank to be able to work with what we have and improve the squad.

It's nothing to do with him and everything to do with our club always prioritising the expensive kids they spent money on to justify the pay out over the kids from our youth set up.

Scarlett scored a goal, then got a great assist, then was never to be seen again whilst Tel did nothing and got chance after chance.

Same with Devine who looks a prospect but nah...we have to insist on playing Gray into form because of the outlay.
Spot on.

It's rancid.

Know of a very talented young footballer who will steer well clear of this club for this precise reason.

If Airfixx Airfixx is being attacked for rating the 2019 summer transfer window at the time, a lot of this forum need to put their hand up.

That window is actually one i commend Levy for. He took a gamble and it didn't pay off. I don't blame him for the poor due diligence of ndombele. That's the scouting teams remit.

Ndombele: was in the France team and deserved to be in it, he had a brilliant season at Lyon. He just retired as soon as someone offered him money. He clearly didn’t like football, there was talk of him at burger places all the time when he was playing in Turkey. Just a tremendous waste of talent.

Lo Celso: very well suited to Poch, far less suited to Jose, Nuno, Conte.

Sessengnon: good player who turned into a complete crock when we bought him.

It was a combination of sacking Poch and terrible luck that turned our on paper best window into a total disaster. The lesson from this shouldn’t be don’t buy elite players, it’s do better scouting and don’t buy if you are thinking of sacking the manager and going in a totally different direction.

You hit on the issue that’s at least half of the problem though; we can seemingly never shift anyone. I realize that sounds a little off, given that we literally just sold Son. But that list of players you have here isn’t something that a serious club allows to build. It’s a pure mismanagement of assets.

Then, you have players like Ben Davies. I love the guy, and he’s been a warrior for us. But really, he was second choice for this club ten years ago, and I guess we’re going to do it again.
I agree with the point about moving players on, but in the case of Davies, I think he's a good senior player to have around the club as a backup.

I think he's the type of guy to get on with everyone and a good pro to have around for the younger players in the squad etc.

I'm actually glad to get Palhinha in as a more experienced player too, even for just a loan etc.

So 6 days before the season starts we have effectively lost Son and Maddison (for the season) and bought Kudas with Paulinha on loan. We finished 17th and are in a worse position now than we were in January. In terms of incompetence and given the differing circumstances its 2018 levels
When I say there's something actually wrong with Baldcunt, I mean it.

He is perfectly happy having us play a Super Cup in front of the whole world (CL winner/EL winner... all eyes on us) with Richie, Johnson and Tel at the sharp end.

He has no shame or conscience.

There is something wrong with him.

I just think he has completely lost touch of the realities of modern day football and its got to the stage where he's just delusional. In his mind its still 2005 and we're half decent in the market and this untapped group of talent we've spent big money on just need a new manager. Its why you should never stay in the same job or run a business for too long. Things move on, you generally dont.

I haven’t watched his vids in quite a while, but this was just a ‘short’ one!

:dembelelol:

Believes the MGW farce has knocked us off our game.

We should have had alternatives lined up to go, but I reckon we didn’t believing it was nailed on with the release clause.

Tip for watching AG vids - play on x2 speed.

*not being disparaging, he's a good guy and had chats with him on the other forum back in the day, but... :mourcheeks: yeah, x2. lol

He's cold-hearted towards football.

No love for it.

Just loves money and his ego.

He's yesterday's man isn't he?

And when you're yesterdays were not all that great in the first place you end up where he is at the moment.

Increasingly desperate.

Having winged it so many times in the past Levy now believes he will succeed with every roll of the dice.

He's like a gambler at the roulette table.

His managerial appointments were 50-50 up until Jose.

Since Jose's appointment in 2019; Conte's top four finish, at the expense of Woolwich, has been the only genuine success.

Jose, Nuno, Conte and Ange all represent failure of one kind or another.

The player recruitment aspect of the club has also been mired in failure.

Levy's been getting it wrong ,most of the time, for about 7 years now.

It all goes back to sacking Paul Mitchell and the no transfers in for consecutive windows.

It’s not Fixy’s job or any other poster on here to do the appropriate due dilligence

We might think it was a good window , Levy is paid an absolute fortune to ensure it’s a good window .

The bellend has had nearly 50 windows to practice

This is not aimed at you but we have an endless stream of excuses as to why we can't buy or sell decent players.

For years we were told they wouldn't come because we didn't have champions league......well that turned out to be bollocks.

Then we were told we couldn't sign decent players because we were building a new stadium......

Then we were told that we couldn't sign players because we didn't win anything......well as Europa League winners that's turned out to be bollocks......

No dig at you, but now it's supposedly because we finished 17th......

It's always Jam tomorrow with this fucking club - always, 'be patient and the new stadium will elevate us to the next level' - always a transition season.

It's a crock of shite.

The only person who doesn't have to wait to get his reward is Daniel Levy who is the highest paid chairman in the premier League (at least he was in 23/24)
Yes, it's a con.

Ongoing.

And baldcunt has no qualms about lying and cheating the fans.

He sleeps like a baby.

People get upset about things that are out of their control all the time; it's human nature. Last few years, for example, I've found myself enraged over Russia's 'Special Operation' in Ukraine; October 7th and the ongoing (and escalating) Israeli response; and pretty much anything Trump-related. Does that make me 'insane'?

In the great scheme of things, football seems unimportant. But it isn't; it's tribal, visceral... it has you leaping off of your seat and screaming in celebration, or tearing your hair out in despair... at events on the pitch that are entirely out of our control. If you can imagine enjoying the 'football side of football', is it really so hard to imagine others getting upset over the transfer side of football? There is, after all, a pretty clear connection between the two; you can broadly track the rise or fall of a team by the quality of their recent transfer activity.

For the past decade or so, no one, regardless of which team they support, would have been surprised to see us in the top 4. We might not always have been the most fancied to get top 4, but it would never have been a surprise. This season, I strongly suspect that no one, not even the most ardent amongst us here, is expecting us to finish in the top 4. After a shocking season and a half in the league, and a fortunate (I don't think it's unreasonable to categorise it this way) CL qualification, coupled with our size and stated ambition, I think it's reasonable to feel 'upset' by the way this transfer window has unfolded... because, unless there is a rapid and unexpected change over the next couple of weeks, we're going to be doing more hair-tearing than celebrating next season when the football side of football gets underway.

Just cos people do it doesn't mean they should.

Sorry, but being able to regulate yourself about the team you support not buying enough players should be a minimal thing to achieve as a human.

We are all in a constant state of disregulation due to the 24 hour news cycle, social media, whatever.... its all designed to keep us angry and ready to fight ao we click more, act more etc. We all have a choice how we choose to interact with it.

Entertainment, for me is that. Entertainment. It's nothing like war for me.

War understandably makes people feel extreme discomfort and uncertainty, triggering our nervous system into a state of fight or flight and feeling very high levels of emotion that can be hard to keep under control

And sure, winning or losing football matches can trigger the same response.... but really, truly in the grand scheme of things.... it shouldn't.
