Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I just don’t think that’s true.

How did City and Woolwich go backwards despite strengthening in the transfer windows?
Well City had a significant negative net spend in the Summer window and were dead and gone in the title race by the time they spent in January.

I remain a little skeptical of everything going on there, that just feels like less and less of a Pep team every window, but we'll see.

Woolwich barely had a net spend themselves, and happily are just becoming an increasingly absurd and self-defeating outfit on a tactical, philosophical, spiritual level.

I do really like their business this summer, but hopefully the nervous breakdown around Lego Man is too far gone at this point.

Been watching El Kannouss.

Took him 10mins or so to be visible in the game. He’s had one decent half volley which went just wide of the post.

He seems to have a role where he’s allowed to wander a bit. Playing centrally but popping up on the wings especially the right, where a few times he’s tried whipping the ball in for strikers to get their head on.

Doesn’t look particularly quick as such, he’s a bit of a glider, as opposed to a pace merchant. Certainly more of a passer than someone who’s going to be taking people on in one on one’s based on this, although at least once he’s taken a touch beyond an outstretched foot to give himself a bit of space.

Seems to be decent in terms of his technique, though he’s just taken a foul throw.

Probably harsh when this is one of the first times I’ve really specifically paid attention to him, but certainly seems to be in the ‘last minute budget option’ section of players for us should we go for him.
Saw a bit of it as well. In all honesty its one of those where i'd rather we did nothing. Think he'd be a pretty average squad player who we'd be trying to move on in 18 months to 2 years and probably failing. I suspect Donley is more talented.

So many team that are building decently. I don't think its a given at all that we suddenly jump above alot of them quickly.

Even with so called more financial backing with our big revenue seeing as we buy badly we could get stuck for a long time in midtable.
i don't think we can make any optimistic assumptions at this point. i think frank is miles better than ange but if we're honestly assessing the situation there's no obvious source of goals yet and we're returning the same defense that's given up over 60 goals each of the last two seasons. again, ange was horrific but those claiming our defense is going to be amongst the best in the league are just wishing at this point and i don't see anyone claiming our attack will be anything but tepid.

if our young players don't start to shine we're royally fucked for years to come

I think you’re missing the point here.

You won’t compete with any team on trophies until you compete on wages.

Wages directly correlate to league and cup success. More so than net spend on transfer fees.

Players don’t care about wages to turnover ratio but if you offer competitive wages, you will attract better players
My point is only 6 teams pay higher wages and Villa not by much. However some suggest we are the worst but that is not the case. 5 of them have a higher income than us. Whilst we are the 9th richest club, 5 of those richer are in the PL.

He’s had a better second half than his first, tried breaking lines with his passing a bit more. I agree with you though, I haven’t seen anything that would absolutely confirm he’s higher level than Donley, or probably even Devine. He’s got a small amount of prem experience but I think I’d have rather give one of ours a go (well, before we loaned them anyway).

We earnt over 40 odd million from winning europa league. 60m from mgw failure. Plus alleged 300m investment. Can only think were being patient until all the sharks have done their business. I reckon we should go for ex villa striker duran who ended up in saudi. Did read earlier in week were interested in mitrovic. He will be great in NLD.😊
