Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Brennan's numbers at Spurs speak for themselves, but if we are being honest he looked a better player at Forest then he did with us but Frank seems to know how to get the best out of attacking players, I think a lot of people will be eating humble pie over Brennan this season.
At Forest he often played upfront in a front 2. They built their attack around him and always had him coming centrally.

Under Ange, we always played him wide. His goalscoring ability is elite, the numbers speak for themselves! But he's bang average as a winger, in fact below average. His 1v1 dribbling is poor and he has very poor numbers for successful take ons. He also has a poor crossing ability where going low and hard is his only real option. Basically he is very very easy to nulify on the wing for an opposing fullback. They want to see Brennan out wide as he's little threat. And don't forget that we played with inverted full backs for the last 2 seasons so Brennan has always had to stay wide and hold the width for 90% of games which never suited his style.

However, if Frank plans to use him more centrally, either running behind Solanke or else in an inverted wing role (think Mbeumo at Brentford who rarely hogged the touchline) then we could have a really really effective player on our hands who can score even more goals as won't be stuck on the touchline trying to play as a winger during the game where he is totally ineffective.

So I disagree that he's gotten worse then he was at Forest. I think he's always been a very poor touchline winger and from now on he should be used much more centrally. I think Frank will get the best out of him. He's one player I'm not concerned about at all. I think he's the most underrated player on this forum.

Not in numbers...we do need to trim the fat ie Biss, Bentancur, Richarlison, Solomon, Bryan Gil, Drag (in January)...

Need a better 9 more like. I do like Dom and respect how hard he works, but he really shouldn't be a starter for a club like ours. Quite fragile too.

If it's to sign a Bilal or McAtee, no thanks. Levy should just swallow it, phone Marinakis, apologise & beg, and offer 80+ mil.

Savinho, Tel, Odobert, Richy if he stays...we aint getting another one.

Starting LB...even when Udogie is fit again.

Agreed - the guy has a natural talent for timing runs to perfection, rarely caught offside and getting himself into very, very good goalscoring opportunities.

The Venn diagram of people who shit on Ange for being the worst manager to have ever lived and also having extreme Brenna hate is an almost complete overlap - these people don't even understand their own footballing opinions.

Lol!

Forum: 'I like Savinho', 'Where would he play?', 'Exciting but I'll wait and see if it happens', 'We still need a 10'.

John: 'Look how rich we are', 'Look how little we spend', 'Look how horrible the fanbase is', 'PAY ATTENTION TO ME!'

Anything to say on the Savinho links, Joan? Where do you think we'll slot him in?
You do need to go talk to someone about that JT obsession, pal. That's getting old & boring.

Come on, you've got much better material in your locker.

Is there a deadline for players to be registered for Wednesday?

I very much doubt it - similar to the first couple of PL games before the registration deadline which is after end of transfer window (1 September) where the rules seem to be 'if you have signed them, you can lay them and there are no limits on squad size, HG players or anything else - all that staff only applies when the squad is being registered after end of transfer window.

And UEFA squad registration date also after end of transfer window.

Disagree on the 9. Solanke currently injured so we look short but he usually is fit to play 80% of games and Richarlison is a very able back up when fit. I also think Frank is open to playing Tel and Brennan through the middle so I think another 9 is the least of our concerns.
None of our 9 are the level, pal. So yeah it's a major concern.

Yup. Was really hoping we'd move for Robinson. A top club recognises that Udogie is still raw and we can't just assume he'll develop into a top left back. By not signing a big left back we've left our whole season dependant on Udogie staying fit for 90% of games and being really good. Neither are guarantees.

A top club signs another left back who's good enough to start and has them both competing with eachother. May the best man win. Worst case scenario you end up with 2 really good left backs and you feel bad for the one who's sitting on the bench! I can think of a far worse scenario by not signing a top left back and it includes Ben Davies starting champions league games!

To be honest, my main issue with that kid is that he doesn't give his all off the ball. If he starts busting a gut on the defensive end, I'll respect him a ton more.

I think solanke is fine personally. Yeah he's not world class and never will be but there are only 2 world class strikers in the whole league. Isak and Haaland.

I don't see who we can sign now that is better than Solanke? I just think thats the least of our worries. We've far bigger fish to fry than worrying about a new 9

No, you can't just sign a player 10 minutes before kick-off and them put them into the team for any match.

The Super Cup may be more lax I'm not sure, but even for the PL games before the deadline you still have to have a player signed and registered as your player by midday on the Friday or something.

The only difference pre-window closing for PL is that anybody registered to the club can be selected on matchday (so Chelsea for example can choose from any of their army of players), whereas post-deadline you have to whittle that down to your max of 25.

And just seen this elsewhere:
