I’d take a team of solankes over a team of Johnsons. Good all around players make things easier for teammates.

The solankes wouldnt score at a high rate but would generate so many chances that goals would come.

The Johnsons wouldn’t be able to even reach the opposition box. They’d maybe get a long ball goal every so often but they’d be permanently against the run of play.

If BJ gets better at areas besides scoring, he could become a winning player, but I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll be cheering for him to do well this season but I’d prefer he not be on the pitch often because from my experience, he’s a miserable watch.
Hopefully he'll be limited to a super sub role this season, and his quick pace may be more useful against tired legs.

I'm not a fan of Johnson, and the above is true, but some credit should be given for his quick movement to get into the right place at the right time. Solanke is a far better footballer but doesn't have that.
Oh obviously, he deserves credit for it. That’s the one ability of his that is genuinely at a high level and makes him playable.

I’m just differentiating Johnson from actual elite finishers with goal threat: Defoe, Kane, Son etc. they score actually difficult chances and consistently overperform their xG. If your main threat is going to be “finishing”, it’s a very bad sign to be a chronic xG underperformer.

Johnson can’t score anything that isn’t at least mildly easy and heavily underperforms xG… in an elite team he would never be a starter.

Who decided that this random twitter account was 'tier 1'?

Just saw that Alfie Doughty went to Millwall. Coulda sworn we were linked to him a year ago and crucially he’s a position we’re short on. Shame we didn’t even have a look.

My issue with Mcatee is I don't think he's better than Bergval so I don't see him starting for us even with Maddison injured.

He's just another young talent with huge potential but our squad is already overloaded with them type of players. I'd rather see us sign a 10 who instantly walks into our team, rather than another squad player.
Levy should buy Mcatee just so that Forest can't have him.

Spite can be a wonderful thing.

Go check out his defensive stats. He is one of the top attacking players to contributing to defense.

Its important to consider the role he had in Ange's team. He was the ghost, tasked with shaking off defenders and looking for space to score goals. He wasn't tasked to be part of the build up play - he was the finisher, sneaking in undetected at the back post.

Solanke - he was asked to press the CBs and drag them out of possession. His game was less about scoring goals, and more about opening space. And in this system, Spurs were for a long time last season the top scoring team in the league.

The little we have seen of Frank's spurs thus far suggests that Spurs will drop back behind the ball and let the other team bring the ball into midfield - then press them hard in midfield and get the ball quickly out the wings. It looks like there will be less playing out from the back, and instead long balls will rule the day.

Johnson clearly can't play as a lone striker up top, he'd get beaten up by the CBs. I see him more as a second striker.

If we do get Savinho, Eze is no longer the ideal #10 profile for us. We'd need to prioritise a great passer rather than dribbler.

Getting Kudus already somewhat laid that seed anyway.

Don't think Eze's ever been the "ideal" #10 for us............ He is (was?) just a within reach, high quality player. (Rewind 6 weeks ago and most people here were insisting he actually a LWer!)

If the likes of Savio, Kudus & Solanke carried their own goal threat it might be different, but yeh as stands we need creativity.

(Although I suspect Savio bodes well for Dom & BJ...... but we need more strings to our bow than just spamming crosses.)
