Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Pep absolutely loved Savinho, he would be going absolutely fucking nowhere. He probably thinks he's a talented lad. He chats a load of fucking shit in the press and bigs up his players (especially the young ones) to silly levels. Almost as much as he bigs up the opposition. I'm expecting a 100 mill bid for Kulu any day now based on Pep's salivating, maybe we could offer them a swap deal?
I think they’ve got a tonne of young talent in this summer with Cherki, Naypan, and they have Bobb bubbling up too. If they can swap Savinho for Rodrygo who’s got so much more experience and big game nous it just gives them more chance of winning this year and I reckon Pep is planning to bow out next summer if he can win the PL or CL.

I'm not 100% sure if Savinho is a player good enough to carry on being a nailed-on starter if we were to evolve as a club to the point of consistently challenging for top honours over the next 3-5 years, but I am absolutely 100% certain of two things; one, he is far, far better than Tel or Odobert, and two, if we could identify a player for the left hand side at a similar fee who would categorically do a better job, there's a fucking good chance a club like City would already be in for them. Gabriel Jesus will end up being moved on from Woolwich as he is not good enough for a team with title aspirations but it would be churlish to suggest he didn't transform their attack in a very meaningful way when he went there, Savinho can be that for us. Who fucking cares if it costs Enic £70m?

Savinho: 1 goal, 8 assists in a city team
Mbeumo: 20 goals, 7 assists
Gyokores: 39 goals, 7 assists

Sesko...you've got me there I'm actually sceptical as to his ceiling

Eze speaks for himself

I hope you're right and savinho develops into a top tier talent.

I'm not saying I don't want him I just think I'd rather see us pay top money for someone like Eze, MGW, Baleba or Wharton who I see as less of a "hit and hope"

You hate Johnson for 50m but want to use GAs as justification now?

Anyway, this one is happening so may as well get used to liking it

Savinho at 70 mill is just as bad as 40 mill each for Tel and Gray.

Very expensive punts on supposed talented young players just because they fit in with our wage structure

Jesus scored 11 PL goals for the scum that first season.

It would take Savinho an entire Steve Perryman career to match that.

It just couldn't be any clearer that City wants to sell this player and that we have all the leverage here.

Daniel Levy in his prime would have paid 30M + Gray

I want players who have technical ability and stats to back it up. I.e. eze

Savinho is exciting and 8 assists is decent.

My original point was just I'm not sure he's worth breaking the bank for at the 70 mil level.

But let's be honest, I'm no expert on savinho so I hope we get him at a price that doesn't rule out the move for Eze and he joins us and smashes it.

I couldn't care less about money spent but rather tradeoffs we might suffer if we blow all the budget on savinho vs an Eze

Hence the mental buy back thing. You have a good point in it being a glorified loan. Just if he goes back, it’s then paying us for the loan and not vice versa.

You may be correct. I thought that last season though. Doubt they’ll reach those heights again.

They have Europe to contend with as well, and you know their owner will expect/demand glory.

I very much doubt they will cope.

I'm not remotely anti the signing. I think he's really fun and I would enjoy watching him play the same way I have enjoyed watching Kudus play ... I am overwhelmingly pro us signing footballers who do footballer stuff and make us all actually enjoy watching games. Savinho fits in to that category.

I get all the concern with Savinho but he’s so fun to watch. We’ve put out so much dross over the years, I can live with a 7/10 effectiveness player if he comes with 10/10 entertainment

It’s fucking weird that people are complaining about a potential AM of Savinho, Eze and Kudus after some of the dross we’ve had to watch the last few years. Just three absolute ballers, scaring the life out of defenders. A defence and midfield with balance behind them.

When will people start to realise it is said wage structure that allows us to have such huge freedom in the transfer market - reducing our FFP constraints massively.

Villa have a huge wage bill but now cannot spend any money on transfers, despite selling a load of players over the last two years.

Some people really need to educate themselves on this subject, it’s so boring reading the same whiney posts about wages.

There's a few million saved on Son's and Werner's annual salaries.

I think the club is due £17m for PEH, £15m for Son, Could probably get £10m for Solomon. Gil apparently Bologna have agreed some deal sorted by Paratici, so say £10m.

So that's at least £50m raised, on players sales, plus the two high salaries.

mother of god danger GIF

Nico Williams is 2 years older and yet to equal/better the 19 g/a in the league that Savinho got for Girona, he got close with 18 though.

Williams 2nd best season in the league is 10 g/a, only 1 better than Savinho's only PL season.

Lol.

Williams would absolutely translate his skills to the premier league (as he did international football) because he's fucking athletic. He could fit in to any league in the world and be very good in fact, or at any level. But yeah .. goals and assists, which by the way if we were judging players on just this, there are legions of shite we could sign ahead of an actual good footballer than Savio because g+a only is always very misleading.

Not that long ago Williams won a Euros tearing it up as a key player for Spain. But .. goals and assists against Las Palmas & co!
