What does premier league level even mean?

Average players are still "premier league level".

There's not many leagues in Europe where you can have the shit kicked out of you for 90 minutes and not win a free kick.
There's not many leagues in Europe where even the worst teams can often defend and will happily play hard for a 0-0 draw.
The weather is poor.
A lot of players can't cope with England/English culture.
The ones I have the least amount of trust for in fact are Spaniards, Portuguese and South Americans.

Interesting fact about Spain too. La Liga works on head to head, not goal difference.
If a prime Barcelona with Messi are playing a bottom 6 team, it doesn't matter to them if they lose 1-0 or 10-0
I'm convinced that's why so many players score so freely there but not elsewhere.

Think you got that the wrong way round, mate -

No footballer playing in the Premier League is Average.

This idea that they are comes from fans being sad when they don't play well.

There are over 125,000 professional footballers registered across the world - perhaps 30,000 odd in England alone

About 500 senior players are registered to play in the prem.

To reach that level, you simply cannot be average.

You can look worse than others around you due to any number of factors.... wrong position, wrong team, wrong coach, etc.

But average? It's just a lazy narrative by folks who do not understand the game beyond caring about whether their teams win or lose.
