Palace are so shorthanded at the moment that they can barely afford to make subs in games. They only made 2 against Chelsea a few days ago despite a handful of players running on fumes in the last 15-20 minutes. They cannot afford to sit Eze.

This also means that they need to add some bodies to be able to compete on multiple fronts this season. Unless they're somewhow going to obtain the money from elsewhere , it has to come from the sale of Eze.

I know you pride yourself on being one of the positive posters on here and I've no issue with that. But surely you'll admit you'd be very concerned if Eze was to play tomorrow night for them?

Not very concerned personally ... he seems like the kind of guy who would want to play the game he could. A little weird if he played then we announced him on Friday for sure, but the amount of smoke with this deal it feels like it is happening one way or another before the window shuts.

And in some ways, this is like buying a house.... we see transfer 'chains' all the time especially when we are talking about the best players from teams.

Eze has had a release clause all summer, ofcourse we wait til it expires to try and sign him

This whole window is feeling like a performative dance where we have targeted players that we know are unobtainable

Hope I'm wrong and we actually do sign Eze and Savinho but right now if I had to put money on it , I'd be going for no new faces through the door which will be a disaster no matter how the ENIC PR parasites will try and spin it

I thought BEK had a 23 mil relegation release clause. I’m sure I read that a few weeks back. Maybe it only applied to ecl teams or it’s expired due to the season starting

Palace seem to have now agreed the purchase of BEK from Leicester City for £32m - probably slightly more than they wished to pay - but have not pressed the 'go' button to sign him atm.

They are also looking for at other players, probably as alternatives to BEK, but possibly in addition - currently rumoured to be trying to get Tyler Dibling now thought to be available for closer to £40m rather than the £100m which Southampton were trying for at start of window.

As you say, Palace have a small squad, so wouldn't surprise me if they are trying to get 2 players out of Eze sales proceeds of £55m plus £5m extras rumoured to have been all but agreed with Spurs.

Problem is Palace do not want to be seen to have 'loads of cash' from Eze's sale so want to buy players whilst pleading poverty, so have a big incentive to drag Eze's sale out.

Then there is the Guehi situation (into last year of contract) with Liverpool waiting for their £40m bid to be accepted - and Guehi keen to go there. I don;t tyhink Palace have much choice except to allow him to go there - but its a deal which wil go through at end of transfer window.

I don't think Spurs have ( much leverage with Palace over Eze, so sadly all we can do is 'sit on hands' until Palace say Eze can go (likely when they have spent the £60m spurs will give them on their incoming players.)

Boring situation, but needs must, so we wait on Palace to give us Eze

It’s been over a quarter century since Palace qualified for a European competition. Palace may not get back to Europe for another decade or more. They have a decent chance to win this competition and qualify for Europa. They’ll be taking it seriously unless they fall into a relegation battle.
