I know most here want their signings (and want them NOW!!), but Eze wouldn't be the difference between getting something versus nothing from a City away game anyway. He's good but not that good.

And then the next game is against Bournemouth on 30th, right before the window shuts. Things will be quite clear by then, for better or worse.

Sue me, but I don't see a great problem with this dragging out.

The problem with dragging it out, it doesn’t give much time to source an alternative should the move for Eze not come off.

We need a 10!

The biggest hurdle isn't the wait for an alternative player, it's Levy always wanting installments. Palace have to replace Eze. If we payed the 60 Million, they would gladly take it and go look for someone. Levy wants to pay a deposit and then 10p per week for 100 years. Of ourse Palace have to first secure a cheap enough replacement first.

Over 90% of purchases are paid for in instalments - the most common seems to be equal instalments over 5 years

The few purchases of players paid for in one amount is typically to activate release clauses - mostly for players in countries such as Spain where release clauses are mandatory.

Hope that helps you understand the issue better

Parties are in "advanced" talks already, with 11 days to go. This is not dragging out until the very last day, as neither party would benefit from it. They want to sell, we want to buy. It'll be concluded one way or another sooner than later.

If worse comes to worst we will still have enough time to go for other targets in the last 4-5 days.

As a complete fucking novice, with zero history of being a football scout, i would like to think that Palace have more than one iron in the fire.

I mean lets cut to the quick, do you seriously think that Palace are only looking at one player as a replacement?

Palace are looking at multiple players - BEK is furthest down the line and most likely to get done (Leicester need to sell but have negotiated a decent fee for BEK )

Palace are just trying to see how much better they could spend the £60m Spurs will pay them for Eze - which is frustratingly a time consuming process under Palace control

I just took a look at some wages for the Premier league teams. Liverpool are playing Chiesa £7,800,000 per year so that alone makes me feel that Tottenham cannot compete to make the major signings if these bigger Paying Clubs come in for the same player. Recall we were linked with Chiesa last summer. We need to adjust our wage structure if we are to truly compete.

That’s just an isolated example but the wages some of these Clubs are paying was really eye opening
