Relax, everyone. This deal is as good as done.

How do I know?

Well, I just so happened to pick up none other than Fabio Paratici in my Uber from Selhurst Park. It took me a few minutes to realise it was actually him, but then his phone rang. Judging by the tone (and the amount of swearing), I’m fairly sure it was Vinai or Daniel Levy on the other end.

Fabio wasted no time laying into poor Johan Lange. “Yeah, all sorted now — had to fix the mess Johan left. Amateur hour stuff.” He continued on the phone, gesturing wildly as most Italian men do, while I tried to focus on the road and not crash from the sheer weight of the ITK unfolding in my backseat.

I was desperate to ask about the Eze deal, but my courage kept bottling it somewhere between my stomach and my… loins. The silence grew unbearable as we neared Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Finally, I cracked.

“Er, Fabio… any truth in the rumours about Eberechi Eze to Spurs? I’m a massive fan of the club.”

We pulled up to the stadium gates. I caught his eyes in the rear-view mirror. Without warning, he lurched forward, grabbed a fistful of my hair, and licked my ear like a man possessed. Then, in the most seductive whisper I’ve ever heard, he breathed:

“Eze to Tottenham. Here we go…”

With that, he leapt out of the Uber and disappeared into the chaos of the High Road…

I just took a look at some wages for the Premier league teams. Liverpool are playing Chiesa £7,800,000 per year so that alone makes me feel that Tottenham cannot compete to make the major signings if these bigger Paying Clubs come in for the same player. Recall we were linked with Chiesa last summer. We need to adjust our wage structure if we are to truly compete.

That’s just an isolated example but the wages some of these Clubs are paying was really eye opening

Chiesa is on massive wages as his former club wanted rid of him due to injuries so his fee to Liverpool about £10m or so.

Chiesa's availability to play continues to be a problem for Liverpool - I think he played less than 45 mins in his first half year at Liverpool.

So I'm delighted Spurs did not follow up their interest and allowed Liverpool to get bragging rights.

There's no way all of that could have happened today driving from Crystal Palace to Tottenham......you'd be stuck in traffic for at least another 4 hours

I know most here want their signings (and want them NOW!!), but Eze wouldn't be the difference between getting something versus nothing from a City away game anyway. He's good but not that good.

And then the next game is against Bournemouth on 30th, right before the window shuts. Things will be quite clear by then, for better or worse.

Sue me, but I don't see a great problem with this dragging out.

You’ll hear from my lawyer’s you optimistic PRICK
