Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Jesus - this is what football has come to.
The truth that's getting fudged around here is that it is pure speculation to judge a transfer window as it's happening. We do not and can not know how these moves are going to turn out.

I really like Woolwich's business, they've done what I would have done in their shoes, but the future is unknown.

That said, champions being built with skillful navigation of the transfer market has been what football has come to for decades now, it's stupid to shrink from that.

They're trying to go for it though. You know what's sickening? The fact that we have to rely on fucking Liverpool, City or even worse, Chelsea to stop them winning the Title, because this club is unable to do it on its own, because this fucking board is holding us back. I miss the fucking days when we were masters of our own destiny, instead of relying on others to stop that scum.

Agree with a lot of that, which I think strikes at the very heart of much of my angst.

To have to look elsewhere for hope is galling.

Thank God we won the Europa last season, albeit by the law of large numbers, which is also why posters should fear Woolwich this season.

If this is indeed true, well, that's Akliouche off the list as well

Spurs prioritising a number 10 and winger in the remaining days of the window. Thomas Frank would also like another centre-back with a belief Luka Vuskovic would benefit from a loan with regular football. Piero Hincapie does not appear to be a potential signing at this point.

I think Fabrizio Romano is officially a troll who we need to ignore.
So what is he saying? If Vuskovic stays he will not get regular football but Hincapic would if he replaced him? Or is he saying he will go on loan if Hincapic comes.

This transfer window is draining.

It’s disheartening and killing my optimism and excitement after a good start knowing that the board don’t give a shit and have no interest in bolstering the squad for UCL football and a competitive league season.

The problem is; should we try and fail in that then the wailing on here about being "we tried FC" will be deafening.......

See: Paz...... And people's attitude toward us being linked to Rogers.

....But yeh; let's have stab at Rogers. Bring it on. 👍
We never had a chance with Paz, I said as much before we launched the big bid. Di Marzio, who is close to Paratici said that with Real Madrid controlling his future and want him back that it's very unlikely.

But we proceed to waste time chasing a mythical dragon that we'll obviously never catch. That is absolutely just a PR spin to say we tried.

Bigger picture is we've invested heavily in young players and academy as look at the example of this transfer window trying to sign experienced players. Hard work. Hoping young players weve signed step up. Bergvall was a great signing. Hoping Tel, Odobert step up. Byfield and Moore hoping will improve as well.

Fans online celebrate transfers like they do winning games - was in the pub watching Spurs City and this Gooner was in there giving it large because they signed Eze - he soon shut up when we went 1-0 and funnily enough, completely disappeared after the second.

I can respect what they have done this season - though i dont think Madueke or a prem unproven Gokyeres are that incredible signing personally, but this comparison to them, because they are our rivals, seems to forget where we both are in our projects and what they have gone through to get where they are right now.

I want a manager to stay with us for 5 years and build a team in their image, in fact, build this team in their image.

Seeing who Woolwich have bought this window after 3 2nd place finishes.... on what planet were people expecting us to compete with that when we are bringing in another new manager and we are 3 years behind them in their squad building process.

Its just getting pissed off for getting pissed off's sake.

I do worry about us, which is why I'm fucking fuming. Because we don't try to have a right go at it, and it's been proven time and time again.

Again..... Focus your ire on that part then. The scum could get relegated and it wouldn't push us any closer to the title.

As for Kroenke, you get what you spend. You spend big, you get big results (unless you're Man United). If he spends, revenues will go up, they become a more attractive place for players (just look at how embarrassing they were a couple of years ago, before they started spending big), which will allow him to spend on even better players. It's not rocket science.

It's not the guaranteed route to success you're insisting either......... You literally just pointed to Man U burning good money after bad... It's even been 8+ years now since CFC last won the EPL despite them relentlessly spending.

The team that's run Pep's City closest (and the longest) has been Liverpool and that was done with smart recruitment and a manager that turned water into wine with players like Henderson, Wijnaldum, a Chelsea-reject (who he didn't even want!) and a pair of FBs that combined cost 10m.

£250m net spend so far from Woolwich. Trying to imagine a world where Spurs finish second and Levy decides we need that level of investment to compete. Not saying what Woolwich are doing is right, but at least they're trying. Every window we limit our ceiling to 5th spot, and even that's only if we have luck with injuries and our manager gets the absolute best from everyone.

Look at the state of how football finances have literally fucked European football. You've got 4-5 teams in England literally buying whoever they want, maybe only 3-4 teams across the rest of Europe can actually challenge them. Then there's a group of clubs who literally get cock blocked by these clubs as the players and agents want to go to those clubs. And the rest have to buy scraps - just look at Newcastle having a £50m bid rejected for Strand Larsen. It's completely fucked up.

If it's PR spin, it's bad, self-defeating PR spin.

Nico Paz and Morgan Rogers are two top talents on a path to emergence as superstars over the course of a 5-6 year deal we'd sign them to, great job using data and scouting to find the right profile of player.

Both are VERY OBVIOUSLY not attainable at any price, they simply cannot be had in the way Lamine Yamal or Kylian Mbappe or Max Dowman cannot be had, attention paid to them are wasted man-hours.

For that to be the state of play on August 25th is scandalous. It's the mark of an amateurish operation, and we'd been thinking we weren't an amateurish operation anymore.

Well Kudus managed way more than that in the same side and in about thirty percent less matches

Paqueta was actually there when West Ham had their 'good' years.

He's bang average
Different kinds of players though. I'm loving Kudus because he's a machine that wants to do nothing but attack and attack.
From what I've seen of Paquetta (nfi how he spells it) he's a slightly deeper player who pulls the strings from there.
