Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We have though also from time to time produced the odd solid/not spectacular player who's had a brief stint in the first team squad and then been sold for a really healthy fee.

That we haven't clocked that and then used the academy to fill out the squad and give the occasional rest to the first teamers is baffling, instead we bloat the squad with average signings who don't move the needle, don't force their way into the team, and are only given minutes once the first choices breakdown completely, blocking the path of youngsters who could provide the same output for much less outlay and much greater reward in the long run.

Our leadership are so crippled by indecision that they can't even take the cheap route with conviction.
Couple of good examples from just this year alone in Tel and Kinsky. Refuse to believe we don't have some players on the books in our young ranks who could have at least matched what they have done.

Oh, right enough, I follow Spurs mainly for the balance sheets, the football comes second.

Whether we kicked the can down the road to put off paying for them for 6 months is irrelevant, they were signed in January of last season, they’re last season’s signings, end of story.
No, it's not "end of story"
Signing them permanently this summer affects this seasons spending.

Regardless of what happens between now and the window closing. Lange should be out on his ear for this clusterfuck, what an absolute shambles he’s been in every window.

We need someone decisive in like Berta at Woolwich. Say what you want about them, but they’ve made some absolutely top signings this summer.

The thing is, we massively overate our youngsters. Take Mikey Moore. I'm sorry, but I don't see a generational talent. I see a young lad who was bigger/stronger than everyone in his age group and probably the group above and was able to dominate. Once that advantage is eroded he is just another young player struggling to make an impact on loan. When he was thrown into action, he didn't really shine with the caveat being nobody really shined under Ange. What is exasperating all of this, is watching Woolwich produce MLS, Nwaneri and now Dowman in the space of two season. Throw in Madueke leaving and the Chavs benefiting to the tune of 55m and quite frankly our academy needs a complete overhaul. We've produced two quality talents from our academy in 30 years (King and Kane). That's it.

Hahahha, very clear indication of someone that has absolutely no idea at all what shit he is spouting. I mean it seems so fucking stupid that I have to ask - do you understand what sport are we discussing here even? Hint - it is football.

Fucksake, Mikey Moore and "BIGGER/STRONGER than people in his age group"?!?! MIKEY? BIGGER?
He is smaller than almost all of his peers and stands apart based on his technical ability, reading the game and making decisions quickly.

It is literally opposite of what you claimed.

When he got chance, he managed to come on as substitution and give an assist in two sub games in a row. And then was left unused going forward. But given that we had no shape as a team and were constantly all over the place it is bit understandable. We needed big and strong lads in frontline who could take down the long ball and not lose it in any situation cause it was almost certain goal to opposition once we did.

Living a mile from villa park believe me Vills fans will go into a total melt down if Roger’s is sold - biggest fear amongst villa fans is the feeling that emery has lost the dressing room
If that is the case, I'd boot the whole lot and keep Emery instead. He's a World Class manager, despite his Woolwich links (but he seems to hate them as well so good on him). Villa are not going to find a better manager than Emery, because there aren't many managers better than Emery to begin with.

yeah our academy stinks for a big london club. compare to real madrid, if you are a talented footballer in the madrid area aged 7 and above, they know about you. london is a powerhouse of talented footballers but few of them come from our academy. Remember Kane originally was Woolwich and King was Senrab FC too.

Is Lange really the problem though? We won't pay the wages like the Gooners do, Berta doesn't have to work to the same constraints as we do as a club, and those constraints are self opposed, we could if we wanted to take a bit of a gamble and back Frank massively and see what he does, however the aim for Enic is European football each season, they are probably thinking with TF we aren't actually to far off that so why spend millions on the likes of Savinho, when we can just wait and see how the likes of Tel and odobert develop.

Once you accept that some clubs want to win the league and some clubs want the money from European football, our transfer make a lot more sense!

This window has been so full of unfulfilled hope that I think it's the last time it sees posters expending a portion of their time chasing rumour after rumour.

There is no such thing as an ITK, journalists will have been exposed as frauds, and less and less people will believe the tittle tattle, which let's face it is an industry in itself.

It's not about whether Frank is the right manager, which after a short period is impossible to assess, but the direction of travel. It's utterly incoherent.

Our decision making when it comes to players aeems so uncoordinated, so second rate, and this summer has bordered on embarrassing.

Thankfully, there are just a few days of this draining soap opera to go. Should any talk come soon after about trying but failing, that will mean zero.

Completely agree... Crouch, Winks, Skipp - good players but like you said, not spectacular game changers.

Question re Lange - as far as I can see, he still reports to Munn.
Maybe I'm going mad, but I thought Munn was culled with the other Aussie imposter?

Who are Madird fighting with for those players though?
We are already fighting the likes of Chelsea and the Gooners, add in the likes of Palace and Fulham and West Ham even where the player might think they have an easier route to the first team rather than just be loaned out to Scotland and let you develop there.......

Given Sarr is going to AFCON for most of the winter, I can see Mainoo making some sense in that same 8/10 role that Frank has Sarr in.

The problem is what happens when Sarr is healthy, can they rotate there without signing a real 10.

Also, really doubt United outright sell an academy product who is good and actually CT in Europe. Think they’d prefer to sack Amorim before doing that.

Ohyeeeaaa.
Daily dose of hyperbole mixed with lying! Here we go!

"most of the winter".
Less than 1 month. If Senegal goes the whole way.

"most of the winter".

It's not a 10/10 window - but it's far from a disaster. Spurs have improved the starting 11.

Romero signed a new deal - We all expected him to leave.
Danso is quality rotation at CB.
Kudus looks like a decent first 11 signing.
Palhinha looks like a decent first 11 signing.

We haven't seen enough of Tel to judge him. 30m a lot to pay for a player that isn't first team ready, but if he is given the chance to get some games under his belt, I think we will start to see why Spurs signed him.

Losing Son and Kane was never going to be easy. Spurs aren't able to buy ready-made replacements of that quality - they have to buy young and develop.

You absolute whopper

We don’t have a 10 and even Sarr, who somehow steps in really well, will be gone to AFCON for the busiest part of the season, and we’ve had both of our last 2 seasons blow up when we don’t have cover for VDV and we still don’t have that.

Absolutely shambolic shit show of a window
