Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

But all I keep reading on here is that we pay the lowest wage to turnover ratio in the PL, so that should not be a problem. 😬
Well we do. I think we are 12th or something like that in the PL when it comes to wages to turnover.

Still we are paying wages way above what most other leagues does, and there lies the problem.

Teams in other leagues can't afford to pay those wages for mediocre players, therefore our problems to shift players.

When the PL teams are so loaded with cash, it's even more important to get high quality players in, and not do as we do, pay overinflated prices for average players. Because they will be almost impossible to get rid of because of their wages.

I think the football governing bodies will have to do something eventually. Because of how rich the PL has gotten, it's almost impossible for other leagues to buy players from here.

The thing is, we massively overate our youngsters. Take Mikey Moore. I'm sorry, but I don't see a generational talent. I see a young lad who was bigger/stronger than everyone in his age group and probably the group above and was able to dominate. Once that advantage is eroded he is just another young player struggling to make an impact on loan. When he was thrown into action, he didn't really shine with the caveat being nobody really shined under Ange. What is exasperating all of this, is watching Woolwich produce MLS, Nwaneri and now Dowman in the space of two season. Throw in Madueke leaving and the Chavs benefiting to the tune of 55m and quite frankly our academy needs a complete overhaul. We've produced two quality talents from our academy in 30 years (King and Kane). That's it.
Oh there was another....a mythical being spoken of in whispers. No I don't mean Alton Thewell....

Regardless of what happens between now and the window closing. Lange should be out on his ear for this clusterfuck, what an absolute shambles he’s been in every window.

We need someone decisive in like Berta at Woolwich. Say what you want about them, but they’ve made some absolutely top signings this summer.

Levy is the first one who needs to go

I’ve listened to all of the biggest Spurs podcasts and they all say his time is up, the overwhelming feeling on here and socials is the same.

This is the worst it’s ever been for him and that’s after his concerted effort to get some positive PR with Vinai and Neville.

There’s no chance he rescues himself in the remaining 5 days of the window.

Times up Daniel

It's not a 10/10 window - but it's far from a disaster. Spurs have improved the starting 11.

Romero signed a new deal - We all expected him to leave.
Danso is quality rotation at CB.
Kudus looks like a decent first 11 signing.
Palhinha looks like a decent first 11 signing.

We haven't seen enough of Tel to judge him. 30m a lot to pay for a player that isn't first team ready, but if he is given the chance to get some games under his belt, I think we will start to see why Spurs signed him.

Losing Son and Kane was never going to be easy. Spurs aren't able to buy ready-made replacements of that quality - they have to buy young and develop.
Yes we have strenghtened, in two positions!

But this team needs much more than that. We both need to strenghten the starting eleven, AND our squad.

Is Lange really the problem though? We won't pay the wages like the Gooners do, Berta doesn't have to work to the same constraints as we do as a club, and those constraints are self opposed, we could if we wanted to take a bit of a gamble and back Frank massively and see what he does, however the aim for Enic is European football each season, they are probably thinking with TF we aren't actually to far off that so why spend millions on the likes of Savinho, when we can just wait and see how the likes of Tel and odobert develop.

Once you accept that some clubs want to win the league and some clubs want the money from European football, our transfer make a lot more sense!
Agreed but I would say that even with the constraints in place, Lange is completely ineffective.

Who are Madird fighting with for those players though?
We are already fighting the likes of Chelsea and the Gooners, add in the likes of Palace and Fulham and West Ham even where the player might think they have an easier route to the first team rather than just be loaned out to Scotland and let you develop there.......
ok, so let's break this down.
let's say there's a talented footballer at Senrab or in a school team or playing for his borough.
what happens? scouts from all the big london teams come and offer him a place in their academy? and this player simply turns spurs down?
or are we not in for them in the first place?
or are we signing more than our fair share of the best of london's talent and are ruining them?

You absolute whopper

We don’t have a 10 and even Sarr, who somehow steps in really well, will be gone to AFCON for the busiest part of the season, and we’ve had both of our last 2 seasons blow up when we don’t have cover for VDV and we still don’t have that.

Absolutely shambolic shit show of a window
I wish people would stop claiming Danso and Tel as part of this window. It is exhausting.

Re Savinho the oracle Hercules has said this over night "don't give up"

Combine this with the athletics update this morning as well

"Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of convincing Manchester City to contemplate selling them Savinho rest on City signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid. For that to materialise, Rodrygo would need to tell Madrid he wants to go, and The Athletic is not aware of this happening to date.

If that changes, it may open the door to talks between Madrid and City — with Pep Guardiola an admirer of Rodrygo. That, in turn, could provoke a conversation between Spurs and City over Savinho. As things stand, however, this is purely hypothetical. City insist they are not looking to sell Savinho. Therefore, at present, there is no situation for Spurs to pursue and — despite Thomas Frank’s side remaining keen — the Brazil winger is currently on course to remain at the Etihad Stadium."

Yep, this one is over lads. At best it'll be BEK or most likely nothing
None of this makes sense. We have, according to various reports, been able to sell the project to Savinho. Surely that only happened if City had given us permission to talk to the player... something they wouldn't do unless they were willing to sell. So, unless those reports were bollocks, this isn't about Rodrygo, but about City looking to maximise the price.

Interesting that Savinho didn't make the Brazil squad. Maybe he is genuinely injured?

Ancelotti left out Rodrygo and Vinicius to try out new players, and Savinho still didn't make it! Even Martinelli is in there ahead of him FFS. If he's not injured then he should be trying to force a move because he won't be making their world cup squad at this rate.

Ohyeeeaaa.
Daily dose of hyperbole mixed with lying! Here we go!

"most of the winter".
Less than 1 month. If Senegal goes the whole way.

"most of the winter".

21st December to 18th January

So, he’s gone for the busiest schedule of the season and then either knackered or injured afterwards

Last time he came back with a back injury that all but ended his season because he never got match fit afterwards. Bissouma came back with Malaria.

AFCON is a very intense tournament if you go all the way like Senegal are expected to and is notoriously difficult to recover from.

You keep coming for me and then not bothering to reply when you realize I’m making a reasonable point. Are you ok?

Oh there was another....a mythical being spoken of in whispers. No I don't mean Alton Thewell....
One of my 'favourite' cases of overrated hype was two Icelandic players we bought about 20 years ago (David Limbersky and another chap I can't recall) for about £5m to develop in our reserves.

Lots and lots of talk about them. First reserve game they featured in we got slapped 5-0 and then I never heard from them again. Could still be around for all I know.

maybe he ain't no good and we will drop 70m to find out. If Levy get's Ndombellied again then you can kiss goodbye to any big money transfers under his watch
