Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Its the fact he gets away with it year after year, its rinse and repeat for decades now, but if you're Levy why would you do anything different from the "we tried" and "it's difficult" narrative when you know you're coining it and there is literally no repercussions.

On the contrary; I think Alvarez & Palmer are the reason that they would think twice
Bullshit if you overpay any player is available and that is where we are. Even if we only get a No. 10 or Left Winger that is where we are. We need quality so if we came with a £85m-£90m bid for Gibbs White the deal would be done. Ifwe paid similar for Savinho it would be done. The fact that we are paying above market prices is no longer the point it is what you have to do to sign real quality now.

We really need to keep Bissouma if we don't get anyone else in we could have done with Hojbjerg last season during that never ending injury crisis!
This is desperate. Biss is an absolute dickhead but that's where we are... we need depth because come the new year we will be down to the bare bones and Biss will be playing RB because Porro is fucked and Spence is too busy covering for Udogie who is still injured and Davies who is having to play LCB because VDV's hammy has gone ping. Surely Gray could fill in... on no Del Boy, not on your nelly. He's too busy covering for Palhinha who is suspended. Bergvall is now forced to play 10 because Sarr is in Africa and we now have Gil playing right wing because Kudus is injured and Johnson is on the left because Tel continues to look anything other than a footballer and Odobert is just... well Odobert. Solomon will be our first change for Solanke who is being flogged like a dead horse because Richy got injured playing for Brazil. That's how our season will pan out. We will not be able to cope with any setbacks.

We already did, we spent £40m on a LW earlier this window.

I said it the moment he was signed: Mathys Tel is our Heung-Min Son replacement. Levy doesn’t sanction that fee for a backup.

Only problem is he’s completely awful and is so bad he immediately needs to be recruited over.
it seems tel has already been sussed out by frank, hes not fancied him has he. that tells you also that he wasnt his signing like it was made out, that deal was done before frank got in the door.

a LW that can do what kudus can do for us on the other flank makes us a threat against anyone. having two wide players like that will make the midfielders job a lot easier if we do need to play through the middle.

Bullshit. You make offers to make the clubs tbink about it. You use your stature as a club to unsettle players. Fucking go there and bully Villa or Forest for MGW or Rogers. Go there and tell Savinho "if you don't hand in a transfer request, we're out, and you can tell your World Cup chances bye bye".
The problem is, this club has no balls.

I think you'll find, if you check, that Forest were not interested in selling MGW despite a release clause .... and all the pictures seemed to show MGW being held agajnst his will.

Its difficult to bully ManCity with their unlimited state funds so it doesn't need to sell, and probably doesn't care even if Savinho downs tools and goes on strike. City do not need to care even if Savinho loses value - they have almost unlimited funds

Villa should need to sell due to FFP type issues, but they seem confident they will not get caught - a few suspicious transfers between them, Chelsea and Saudis may have solved that problem for them. But with a player on a contract to 2030 its pretty much impossible to force a sale.

I guess you have not been involved in asset sales yourself, or you'd recognise the parallels to other businesses and how they operate when buying and selling

You don't rebuild a team with 28 year olds mate.

Off the top of my head, Vic, Udogie, Kuku, Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel, DJ, have all been positive additions to the squad and all have featured (aside from Kulu, and Udogie) in two excellent PL games so far this season.

We also have several players coming through.

The future of the team is very healthy and we now have a very good coach and manager, plus a set of coaches all n the same page.
You also don't buy 11 20 year olds and expect to have your first team set for the next decade.

If there's a 28 year old who improves the side and you can sign him, then sign him and continue to look for a younger player in that position over the next couple of years. The value is in having that player contributing to the side for that 3 years or so, not everything has to have resale value in order to be worthwhile.

1. They shouldn’t sign anyone to be a back up, especially not when we finished 17th. Every player that comes in should be pushing to start.

2. No, they clearly can’t do deals at this level anymore. This window is honestly the worst since late Poch and I genuinely think they believed it was going to be a big one. They just can’t achieve that at this level.

Your schtick here is basically they're not capable of signing anyone..... In the midst of a window where they have signed THREE players already.

Pick a better hill... This is a stupid one.

Fixxy already running cover for ENIC and doing his whole neurotic contrarianism arguing thing all over the thread. Shadydan Shadydan is back too (missed ya)

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you know we are finished doing business this window. Damage control crew is here.

No, it means Tel needs more time as opposed to leaping into wild and baseless judgement.

We need to see the quality of player Frank has intimated the club needs, which obviously makes it a bit harder to achieve.

This place is jokes 🤣

Just shouting "bullshit" at a thought you don't like doesn't make it go away.

There's a massive amount of "IF" here which supposes you know what Man City's motivations are...........

You're talking about one of the least financially bully-able clubs in the world. If they want him; he stays. Hard truth.

Since the start of the 2024 summer window, so 15 months and not including loans we've signed 3 senior players over the age of 21. Solanke, Danso and Kudus.
