Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let me make it simple... it's a one season rental which they will pay for... there is no way they are going to take over the registration of a player with a suspect temperament for longer than 12 months. I'm not even going to debate this anymore... it's just ridiculous...
I mean this is all twitter bullshit, who knows what will actually happen in real life, but an obligation to purchase means an obligation to purchase

NIL in the US for high school students isn't even legal in all 50 states. You have no clue what you are talking about. And before NIL, which has been around for 4 years, any sponsorship would have made kids lose their amateur status and they couldn't play in college, which is still how many US players advance to play in MLS.

Big bag?

Big Balls?

Or both?

Let's hope he can get out of bed for the medical.
You were saying?

France Kiss GIF by Robert E Blackmon

He's been absolutely atrocious since he's been here. Shown absolutely nothing. I don't give a rats ass what he did at Bayern.

He came here, stank the place up and they spent an outrageous amount of money on him. He did nothing in that loan period that suggested there was a quality player, nada.

If he was that great, why were Bayern more than happy to shave off a significant amount of money off the fee? He's a liability, shouldn't be sniffing first team football right now.

would you buy something that is free?
Marseille did a loan-to-buy of PEH covering the final year of his contract.

It's just a deferred payment. Galatasaray is not buying Bissouma a year from now, they are buying him right now.

POK says Biss wants UK citizenship and is a year short so with just a loan Biss registration will remain with us until obligation kicks in then will have his UK citizenship then

Didn’t see that one coming in the transfer window bullshit bingo.

Are we the only club that has these ridiculous decisions effecting transfers. Other clubs would just say fuck off, bad luck, you’re leaving to where we want and it’s tough shit.

Not confused at all. Just listen to how silly you sound.... an obligation to buy a player who is essentially out of contract when that obligation kicks in... let me help you out. They will be paying a 12 month loan fee which may or may not be deferred in it entirety for 12 months and will undoubtedly be linked to performance metrics. If he stinks up the place, which is highly likely then there is not a cat in hells chance they will keep him. He will just be an out of contract player who someone else can kick the tires on. They are not buying him from us and redoing his contract. I can guarantee that. It's a loan. Plain and simple.
That's, not how it works mate. It's a deferred payment. Everything will be iron clad once ink is on paper. Same as Eric Dier to Bayern.

We were mired in the bottom half under a manager who looked clueless overseeing a 2nd major injury crisis, I've massive doubts that Tel was our number one pick to strengthen our LW/ST backup that window, very likely he was one of very few options that the club and player were open to moving that window, and realistically for what he provided we genuinely would have fared no worse chucking an academy player in, so if that's our "top pick" based on scouting data, you have to really fucking fear for our scouting department.

I didn't question the necessity; nor vouch for his quality....

You said it was a desperate, end of window grab. That's not true.

Let's not pretend he's actually done anything noteworthy beyond being bought by Bayern for a big fee for a teenager for anyone to have sat up and taken notice of him across Europe.

Again; this is getting a bit strawmanny........

As per your OG post: He wasn't an unknown........ We even tried to get him from BM as part of the Kane deal 18 months prior.

Lange is a data boy...... Young players like Tel will have been scouted on that basis vs his pecieved potential.... Whether you or I had already been dazzled by him is not especially pertinent.

I wouldn't say "minor PR win", I think criticism genuinely bothers Levy and he hates to be seen to be the reason the club is faltering, Tel was a desperate bid to stave off criticism and claim backing of the manager.

.........But you're failing to substantiate that theory (See paragraph 1).

And again; we're not gonna burn 37m for optics sake when we had the option to just walk away. That's the whole damn point of these "option to buy" deals.

I really hope he can kick on and show us all a glimpse of something that has generated all this hype in his very short career thus far,

That's really all there is to it at this juncture...... He's here.

Things like the AAU circuit in basketball have sort of informally operated as a player recruitment mechanism for the shoe companies though, in fairness. And with the adoption of NIL I expect shoe deals for HS kids to become routine (and probably quite ugly).

What any of this has to do with Mathys Tel I'm not sure.
