Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There were multiple delays from the get go. Design changes, potential location changes, arguments with West Ha, Lammy the MP, Archway steel. They started talking about development/new stadium right from the start in the early 00's and it finally opened in 2019.
You talked about over-run and its costs, which is a different thing.

There was a lot of resistance from Haringey, which had to be overcome. The detour via Stratford was a result of Haringey intransigence. The 2008/09 financial crisis and its aftermath had major effects on the construction industry and the ability to raise finance. One major turning point was the 2011 riots, which started in Tottenham, and sparked efforts for much overdue regeneration, and then the doors opened for Spurs. There was the whole business of land acquisition and Archway Sheet Metal being very awkward and causing delays. But that had a beneficial side effect enabling stadium redesign, which was a very good thing.

I'm sure there must be a narrative out there that wants to blame ENIC/Levy for all of the above.

Ange and Frank have seen something in him, so too did Munich.

He will come good and has shown some good touches.

He's the new Jonhson from a couple of seasons ago, a young player the fanbase in here love to hate.

He's just suffered a lot of racial abuse but some fans don't ever see the affect it has on a player.
Munich seen something so great in him, they were willing to knock over €20m off his fee.

He's utterly dross. And it's not that he's hated, not his fault, but after the worst loan spell in memory, the club decide to splash out on him. That's why people are pissed.

He showed absolutely nothing to indicate he was worth anything like that, and as it happens, looks like the guy that bought him is going to lose his job, and I'd wager this signing was a big part of that. First team player money for a kid who looks leagues below this level.

Absurd.

Is this part of the Samelar Hound post on SC
No. Samelar hound was from a poster called Quwaitiyid I think. If I remember correctly it was about Berbatov.

"No like chicken badge" was Modric. There was a GIF going round where a spoof letter was put out, supposedly from Modric to Levy when he wanted to go to Chelsea. No like chicken badge was part of it, but the funny bit was the end where it said something like "I am peacock, must fly free."

The purchase of Tel is a real conundrum and completely ignores the benefits of the 'try before you buy' option which leads me to conclude that despite reports to the contrary his loan deal did indeed contain an obligation to buy.

Nothing else makes sense and without wishing to upset the more qualified scouts within the forum I really cannot see what they are seeing other than a young athlete that runs around a bit.

£40m for a young prospect is in the higher bracket for a punt and it should have manifested into some glimpses of star ability by now and it simpy hasn't.
We didn't spend 40mil on Tel...we took that out of what Bayern still owed us for Kane. It wasn't new money.

Same with Palhinha.

And of course both were gonna stay on a permanent, it was just so Levy could save even more money for a few months...creative accounting and all that.

Their level and the fact both massively flopped at Bayern doesn't matter one bit. Levy won them deals, that's what's key.

Yawn..Can we keep the Tel bashing, to his own thread instead of the transfer thread.
It's ridiculous and boring

I'm not saying it justifies the price, but there was in fact mega hype around Tel two years or so ago

This isn't just some kid, it was supposed to be THE kid.
Happens all the time. Bayern took a punt, decided he wasn't allowed that, punted him on us for an inflated fee that we'll never see value in.

There's no one here that can truthfully tell you they see a player there, he's just so so bad. He already needs loaned out, and his time here will likely be a series of loans until we let him leave for free.

I haven't seen a less impactful player in a very, very long time.

The silver lining in it is that there's every chance Rio Ngumoha and Max Dowman wind up following the same path
