Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This guy knows the name of the Leipzig chairman or whoever he is - sounds legit.

Thanks for the info, perhaps we should start a welcome thread.
Loan with option to buy? Would we pay him £200k/week?

:kanehand:

It’s happening isn’t it! Start the thread.

Sure, not enough to win the league, or anything else, come to that. But to improve on a dismal league season, it is. Makes us stronger than we were, so not a complete failure.

If this is a plan, I do get it. Big risk to spend hundreds of millions on backing a new manager, until you can see what he’s capable of over a run of at least a few months. I’m not suggesting it is a plan, by the way, it’s as likely that it isn’t and just been a fuckup instead.

What’s the point in hiring a proven PL manager then not backing him? He gave a top level novice like Ange far more backing than Frank despite him having zero record in a serious league. What he’s doing is an insult to Frank as well as the fans.

If Chelsea sources start tweeting about how they were never serious about Simons and only made a basic enquiry at the start of summer, maybe then we can start to believe there is a 1% chance it could happen.

I'll only accept this "plan" if big money is spent next summer, but we know it won't be.

I don't know how much stronger we are by the way. Son is gone, Madders is done for the season, Kulu is done until December. Our depth is still poor.

Hence my saying, very clearly, that it’s as likely to be a fuckup as a plan.

If I were in charge, I’d have done what the club has done and improve the first team with a couple of players and wanted to see what my new manager can do with the rest of the squad to improve them. However, if we believe what’s been said by all journos and ITKs, that’s not been the plan, we’ve just fucked it up.

I actually almost wrote similar. In that I’d be fine waiting for us to really go for it in the next window. But I’ve fallen through that trap door often enough to not repeat my mistake.

And I agree, a central attacking, creative midfielder is an area we are short in.

In isolation makes us stronger but we have lost Son, Maddison and Kulu. That context can't be ignored.

Aye, just responded above that our central attacking midfield is a concern. And yes, Son, no matter his sporadic performances last season is also a loss. I’d have been more concerned right now if we had those players available and no Palhinha though. A player we have been missing for years.

No, we were short in that area when we were overreliant on Maddison, a single player whose form and fitness are inconsistent.

We now do not have an entire football team. That's not "short".

I only pick on you personally because I respect your usual clear-headedness, but the performative pose you're doing here sucks, man
