What source do you have for this as Capology has him on around £100k/week at RBL?Double his current basic? He went from PSG (already high wages) to RB Leipzig and is their highest paid player on €12m / year Xavi Simons now the highest-paid player in RB Leipzig history. That's about £10.35m. £10,350,000 (annual salary) ÷ 52 (weeks in a year) = £200,000 per week. Romero is our highest paid player, the absolute max his basic is is probably £250,000/week, but realistically it's probably similar to Simons' current salary (Son was on £190,000/w). He clearly wants a fat pay rise to move to the PL. I don't see us signing him unless he agrees to performance based add-ons, which I doubt he will. Chelsea will probably just hijack the deal anyway.
Young English talent, wouldn’t be a bad signing and in a midfield formation that suits him would be far better than his current situation.
I think we might be getting himThe thing is, why haven’t Chelsea made an offer if they are able to? Makes no sense.
They’ve kept the player hanging all summer clearly because they can’t sign him yet and are prioritising other targets.
Even now we’ve made an offer. They haven’t. They could have made a bit any time over the last weeks and months.
So I understand why we are being aggressive now in trying to beat them to it.
I guess we’ve been clear with the player that we won’t wait and he will need to accept and sign quickly.
I suppose the small optimism I have is, why haven’t Chelsea bid yet? Can only think it’s because they can’t, maybe the price is too high

Waiting for us to set the price so they can swoop in and get everything done in 24hrs, allowing them all that time saved working on other targets. The thing is, why haven’t Chelsea made an offer if they are able to? Makes no sense.

You sure about that?I still don't think this Simons talk is legit, its just supposed ITK generating a false narrative, he is going to the Chavs but they want to make it look like he rejected us by going there, the club is not so stupid as to do thi after MGW & EZE!!!!!![]()
I had this same thought process with Woolwich and Eze. Why didn't they just pay the 68m release clause in June? Why did they wait until after the season started to sign him for 68m!The thing is, why haven’t Chelsea made an offer if they are able to? Makes no sense.

Nah that was some young buck journo who thought he was clever.Wasn't this the guy who was all over the Kane to Bayern deal?
Even held up a Bayern shirt at a Spurs presser?
Playing chicken with RBL over his fee as clearly don't have the appetite to pay the 70m euro RBL want for the player and were banking on no one else coming in for him, think Woolwich were probably doing similar with Eze but us coming in forced their hand, here's hoping Maresca doesn't fancy him at the cost and they pass on him as feel we are fucked if they decide to match our bid, player has made his preference clear and I don't think we have the stomach to exceed the terms Chavs will offer by enough to entice him here. The thing is, why haven’t Chelsea made an offer if they are able to? Makes no sense.

Maddison is out for the season and the transfer window is still open. Any top club would count Maddison as a player out and know he needs replacing. Why are you covering for this incompetence?
We've started well because we have one game a week and a very decent first team. Ange started the last 2 seasons well when he'd one game a week. The real test comes next month when the CL starts and we've a game every 3 days. Thats when our squad will fall short again and its absolutely amazing to me that you can't see this coming.
The clowns got us so desperate so any signing now would make us jump up/down of joy without stopping for a moment and asking "Wait! who? how much? why?".
SELL THE CLUB YOU CLOWNS!!!!!
Best of the article: “Tottenham have a very good relationship with the German club, as you would if you took Timo Werner off their hands for 18 months”![]()
