Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Imperative we sign a LW.

I said last week the first two games lulled people into a false sense of security.

We can't do it all in one window, but we can't go into this season with Johnson as a first 11 player.

Semenyo was the one we should have gone for this summer. Him LW and Kudus right and we'd have been sorted.

Why oh why we didn't just do it I will never know.

We've missed the boat now though. He'll have an elite season and will move to Liverpool, City or Chelsea next summer.

It was clear that he didnt like the way pep wanted him to play. Players like him like to roam and get on the ball.

Yes Pep s style didn't suit him, but he never downed tools like some players would. Whenever he played he gave 100%, he was model pro

For us he would have won so many free kicks which we could have used to our advantage because of Frank's love of set pieces. Also as an outlet to take pressure off the defence, the ball tends to stick with Grealish when he receives it

You saw potential but wrote him off as "not good enough" regardless?

You're really not having a good day.
Saw more potential in him, as a footballer, but didn't think he was going to be good enough for us, in the beginning.

The crux is, harry had far more potential than Tel.

This isn't hard to understand.

Whether I thought he was going to make it here or not is irrelevant.

He had more overall effectiveness, impact and fundamentals, relative to Tel.

He more comprehensive ability.

My day is going very well, thank you (apart from that match).

Keep trying tho, if you must.

I think you're not Quite understanding which one of us is doing the digging.

Not even a punt......he is proven PL quality. People getting put off just because he likes to celebrate hard when his team wins big trophies is ridiculous. 95% of the time he is a model professional
I always said that I'd be chuffed if we got Grealish. I've always rated him as a player (a quick search on this forum would prove it). Such a shame that people couldn't see the opportunity.

Just in case you were wondering if we need a ball playing CM.

I’d honestly drop one of Palinha or Bentancur for Biss if we aren’t signing one.

Either that or give Gray the keys and live with the growing pains

Or switch to a three.

That is certainly damning. To have that level of possession and be unable to progress the ball is a serious worry. A ball playing CM would help (MGW would have been perfect) but the entire left side of pitch is redundant with our current LW options. We didn’t even go long today, such is the lack of faith in our ability to hold the ball up.

Today was rancid.

People were poo-pooing Grealish.

Missed the boat there and his best mate Gabby Agbonlahor was begging us to buy him, which meant Grealish wanted it too.
The off-field shenanigans scared us off IMHO.

Also that lack of recent game time meant he could be a busted flush.

His recent games for the Toffees has shown us that was ill judged, but it could have quite easily gone the other way.

He might still tail off. He might go missing.

But our LW options are absolutely appalling. We cannot seriously be planning a season around Johnson out wide.

For 12 months, he is objectively a much better option.

Gonna be a bunch more of these results unless we have a much better functioning midfield

You can carry players like Johnson and richarlison if you're controlling the game . Just might happen that chances are wasted.

Getting pumped for 90 minutes and having great forwards is kinda what we had under Jose were Kane, son and bale could rescue a game but it's not sustainable, bit like nunos period to.

No we need that 3 man midfield to be absolute silk. Simons is one, that will greatly help, we still need another 1 at least imo

Defensively today frank was just disturbingly awful. Didn't take the commentators or alot of posters very long to see that porro was getting murdered and bullied by semenyo. Too slow, too small.
A simple tweak of moving over Spence to that side, or going with a back there with danso behind porro would have helped kill off that issue .

Tldr: frank needs to learn big lessons from this, levy needs to sign more players before Tuesday
