Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I hate straight loans, what’s the point other than of course the season on loan. Just increasing the value of someone else’s player or paying loan fee plus huge wages for a turd.
On the final day of the transfer window, and our only other forward out for an unspecified time what would you have done?

Put Tel up front in order to rest Richy our injury prone option, or brought in a player who last season scored 22 goals in 40 starts on loan.

Mate, it's the no brainer of all no brainers.

So I woke up this morning to find we did not get in a LW. Were the Lookman rumours wrong from the start? We had the money. Perhaps they want to rotate RKM and Richy through the left/striker positions. That’s one injury away from Tel / Odobert, and we know Richy’s injury record.

Plus Kolo Muani is a far better player than any available LW - so by himself improves the squad quality far more than say Lookman

Seems like finishing 17th did spook baldy. Obviously CL money helped too.

He needed to get real if he wants to keep the top 4 cash cow rolling. PL spending has gone to another level, 200m summers will now need to be the norm for us.

The norm? Not necessarily. The whole idea is to get the squad into a strong position where you only need tinkering during the subsequent windows. There may be times you need a big signing or two to replace those in decline or those who may leave.

Whereas income should be generated from either selling squad players in their peak or promising youth as opposed to exceptional youth. Look at the sums Chelsea, Liverpool, Man C etc have brought in for their kids. The best kids will be given opportunities with the first team E.g. Jones, Elliott, Bradley, Lewis, Foden, Chalobah, Colwill, James etc

Sure we moved on Son who was on £200k pw but we have added about 4 players on £200k pw. so quite a large increase in weekly wage bill (excluding a big raise for Romero on his new contract)

But we have scope to increase our wage bill much more than any other club so its not a big issue for us as we are in a good place on wages/turnover ratio
Spence maybe got a bump too?
