Guehi wanted to go to Liverpool. He'd agreed terms and there was a deal sheet put through, only for CP to pull out at the very last minute.

Glasner apparently threatened to quit and scuppered the deal. Guehi's attitude is a testament to him as a professional. He probably sees it as him missing out on a PL winners medal, and possibly even more, yet he's knuckled down and got on with his job to the best of his abilities, which are excellent.

I'd top any competing offer to get him.
That led to Palace pulling out of buying Gil.

t's a funny one really. I actually think he'd still score a lot of goals in the PL, I'm just not sure it'd be with us.

In the right side, where aggressive press isn't a necessity, I think he'd still be extremely effective as a 9.

What would be his motivation for coming back to the PL? He's got the Silverware he sought, so back to see out his career with Spurs, or try to bear Shearer's record?

I guess the question is would Kane do what's good for the team, or what's best for Kane?
Many of our ex players have strong connections with the club in retirement. At his age Kane must start to think of what he wants to do in the future after football. Is he Manager material or is he so rich that he will just enjoy life. If the later then he may want to continue his close connection with the club which could be jeopardised if he signs for a rival the fans hate. He maybe forgiven if we are not interested in him returning but he might not get over rejecting us.

I think it may be a deal breaker for me yeah but I don't really count.

It depends if Frank wants him or not.

If he wants his striker to be a press immediately, nonstop running guy then Kane isn't that anymore.

What he can do is be a better focal point than we currently have, can hold the ball up better and can obviously finish better than anyone we have.

My point is that towards the end, lots on here were getting frustrated with some of Kane's general play in some matches. All I'm saying is that I don't think the reasons for those frustrations will have gotten any better with an additional 2+ years of aging.

I'm not against the idea - I'd love my son to see Kane score some goals for Spurs - I just don't think we should let the romance of it cloud the reality.

Its a toughie - he will be aged 33 in July 2026, and at £50m+ fee he'd need to be playing at Spurs for 3 years to justify that kind of fee. Will he still be playing at aged 36 ? Maybe ?

But would he be like Ronaldo returning to ManU at a similar age where he was still able to score (his ball striking always a strong part of him game) but Ronaldo had problems of moving round the pitch fast enough - so ManU had to adapt their game so as to find Ronaldo in a goal scoring position. That's why they agreed to Ronaldo leaving before his contract ended as whilst Ronaldo could still core goals he was detracting from the overall ManU side.

I think if Harry comes back its more iikely to be a fans indulgence.

He did several interviews at Spurs where he expressed the wish to play NFL after his football career ended ....... maybe that's still on his wish list

The thing with the Shearer record for me is that Kane needs 48 more Premier League goals to achieve it.

He'd need two incredible seasons to get it done. It isn't a gimme at all.

If he wanted to come back, I'd want it because he wants Spurs to win things and the top scorer is secondary in his mind.

Kane is so good any other top 6 side can build a squad around him and get him there. A good enough possession team won’t even have to worry that he can’t press well. Would be terrible to see him do that with another club but it could happen.

Suspect he would prefer to a win a PL rather than top PL scorer - which rules us out

Bumping this post.

And isn't that typical? Like clockwork, every summer it's doom and gloom that the top teams are all strengthening and people are ready to pick the champions before the fixture list is even announced.
Most of the league looks like a real mess this season. Liverpool off to a perfect start and everyone else looking dodgy as can be. Is this another transitional season?
