With Leipzig missing out on CL football there may be some deals to be made there.

What was Mbeumo like at age 19?
Who gives a fuck
ITK - there's this Werner lad I've heard is going right to the very top. Get him in early! With Leipzig missing out on CL football there may be some deals to be made there.
I get the premise but I still believe clubs still get top money for top players under that scenario
It sounds well and good but in practice I can’t see how you extricate the two
In fact it probably speaks to levy’s downfall that he’s repeatedly failed to the find the cheat code to this immutable law and a good part of the reason we end up with half-baked dross

I think that’s because each move everyone assumed was his lastPerisic moved for relatively small transfer fees but big wages most of his career
Richard Arlison Where are they coming from then
These high wage low transfer fee players …. This summer. You must’ve had a few in mind when you posited that policy
You’re not suggesting it ? You were though at the start of all this right? Below is you suggesting it’d improve our strategyI’m not saying we should sign them because they are low fee, high wages.
I’m saying we spend big fees on low wage players and our hit rate on those isn’t great.
If we signed top wage earners instead of big money transfer fees, we might have a higher hit rate.
I actually think getting hit by too many high earners that we also paid too much for is the reason for the change of tact and why we’re going for younger lower wage playersI’m not saying we should sign them because they are low fee, high wages.

We don't anymore, but we tried (Ndombele, Perisic etc.) and we ended up with a high wage bill and players with no resale value who did not want to move on. If Levy has learnt his lesson from previous years, he will sell Romero and Bentancur this summer for a profit whilst their stock is high (if they won't sign new contracts) and re-invest the funds to improve the first team. The difficult bit to believe is the last 4-words of the previous sentence. But the thing we are worst at is selling players when they are valuable and evolving the team.

We should really be looking to sell Romero, Bentancur, Richarlison, and replace them with players like Huijsen/Estève, Wharton, Delap. It won't be easy, as those players are in demand, but it is how we should be evolving the squad.
How does selling Romero and Bentancur improve the first team? Bringing in better players than those two will cost a King's ransom. We don't anymore, but we tried (Ndombele, Perisic etc.) and we ended up with a high wage bill and players with no resale value who did not want to move on. What will Tel be like vs Mbeumo next season is the key question. We have Moore in that position for the long term
We have to deal due to their contractsHow does selling Romero and Bentancur improve the first team? Bringing in better players than those two will cost a King's ransom.
I do not agree that Richy was bought to replace Kane. He was bought to supplement Kane and Son in Conte's system so those two did not get burnout. A big wage player would not have come to sit on the bench. The fact that a year later when Kane left, we did not buy another CF meant fans thought Richy was his replacement.Getting burnt on Tanguy shouldn’t stop us from trying again though imo.
Take Richy for example. High fee, lower wage player who we bought to replace our highest wage player, Kane. If we’d bought another high wage earning forward, the elite level type, when we bought Richy, maybe Conte and Kane won something and Kane didn’t have to leave.
This summer I agree with you on the plan though. If Romero won’t sign, you flip him. Not that high on Huijsen but Delap looks legit. Problem with both is they will demand wages we won’t offer. Delap has a 30M release clause so the high wage offers will flow in.
I don’t rate Gyokeres as high as some do (I actually think Solanke is better) but the scum will offer him wages we don’t pay for new signings as well. We won’t be signing any top shelf guys on top wages. It’s just not what Levy does.
Bentancur needs to be extended. Romero is more difficult, but getting him to sign a new contract should be our starting position. We have to deal due to their contracts
Neither will sign a new deal with Atletico sniffing
