On paper our defense is the strongest part of the squad
Vicario, Kinsky, Porro, Spence, Romero, VDV, Danso, Dragusin, Udogie are all good players in their own way. Obviously a DM ahead of them could be more reliable than Bissouma and we need another left sided defender but it’s not to much of an issue.
As for conceding a lot of goals, asking our full backs to be attacking midfielders and having the worst injury crisis in the clubs history is a huge part of the problem. That will be gone next season.
Our forward line is a bigger issue in that we have alot of forwards but none of them of Romero/VDV standard. Since Son’s decline we don’t have an elite forward and that needs sorting. I would love to get Mbeumo over the line.

Simons gives me bad vibes, probably because he seems to be seeking moves every summer, just can’t see him as a spurs player to be honest.
Eze, Mbeumo and Semenyo all have their upside, and would substantial elevate our squad. Probably leaning Mbeumo as he’s a naturally right sided.

There's not a midfielder we have in the team outside James Maddison I'd miss terribly. Like the promise of Gray and Bergvall, but we've seen that promise go unfulfilled many times before.
Midfield is the weakest part of this squad and has been since the end of the Poch era.
Supporters just get excited about attackers.
Eze, because we need to fill-out our HG quota, but I also really like Semenyo.
Mbeumo is over-valued, and Simons would go against Frank’s “No Dickheads” policy.
So buy a DM and all defensive woes are solved?
I'm being sarcastic; but I don't understand why you'd so keenly shut down the talk of improving our attacking ranks if all you're craving is a singular new DM.
Equally; if you're attributing said woes to our midfield then - again - that points a massive finger towards the manager/system.
I wouldn’t say all woes, but a lot of our woes would disappear. It’s where we should be spending big money on the very best.
Almost every league winner / successful team have a leading DM.
It wasn't a one off. 3 consecutive seasons. We conceded over 60 in Conte's last season, including 35 in 23 matches before he abandoned the club.
I've thought this. Player for player, each one is very good/excellent, and then they don't mark, don't track back, don't pick up players at corners, and the goals flood it. It's like, collectively, they are hopeless. It would suggest that they aren't being effectively coached to work together and don't have the tactical training to perform together.
This all needs to change.
Agree, the forwards are crap and our midfield a bit meh.
I don't attribute all of our woes to just the DM. I've said many times that Romero is over estimated by most.
The rumours of the Madrid clubs and others wanting him is his agent talking shite.
Vicario's aged about as well as Ange has as manager - error prone and weak in the box.
Porro is better going forward than defending, but not good enough to convert into a winger.
Udogie and Spence are both inconsistent - capable of greatness, but also capable of being shite.
Maddison and Son were both in the top 15 in G+A/90, Maddison top 6. Happy to add Eze and Mbuemo (and cast of the likes off Solomon, Werner, even Kulu). But I just don't agree that attack is the weakest part of this squad. The midfield is wank and most of the defence is overrated.
TBF, you did steer completely away from discussing our defender when I asked you to begin with.
Now that we've seemingly got a bit of a relationship with Bayern at the moment I would absolutely love Paulinha (former Fulham) from them, only played 17 times for Bayern last year. Will be 30 very soon though and they paid £40 million. Genuinely my dream signing this window.
