Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wouldn't be surprised if our recruitment geniuses were looking at someone like Dan Ndoye, that Swiss winger currently at Bologna.

First, we know how much Spurs love an N'something. Plus he's another youngun...only 24. Not the greatest footy IQ but he likes to run, dribble and he can score a few goals.

Looks like Brennan Johnson's illegitimate bro, got as much stamina as Maddison, misses chances a la Werner, and he'd spend a lot of time with Micky at the infirmary. Great fit.

Probably cost circa 30-40mil and wages would be cheaper than Timo's...or Kulu's. Gotta think of that wage to turnover ratio.

He stinks of flop to me. Got Adel Taarabt written all over him, flashy player without much substance, looks good on highlight reels but will get bullied out of PL games.

He's quite a physical player so I don't think he'd get bullied.

But in terms of running and tracking back I don't think he's the required level, you can imagine him playing in one of these big games and him being exposed for his lack of running.

Maybe you can get away it by playing him in a 3-4-2-1 or something

Does it even matter? Levy will sign a random bunch of 11 year olds, irrespective of whether the manager wants them or not. Levy signs players based on profile and resale value, not because they're what we actually need to be a better team.

I appreciate that you're all trying to be excited about some shiny new signing, but it's all pretty pointless while Levy is in charge.

If I were a Mod here, I'd have locked this thread already...

Our 25 most expensive signings are Solanke, Ndombele, Richarlison, Brennan, Romero, Maddison, Sanchez, Gray, Porro, Van de Ven, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Kulusevski, Bergwijn, Soldado, Reguilon, Lamela, Son, Odobert, Bissouma, Lucas Moura, Sessegnon, Bryan Gil, Danso & Emerson Royal.

That's between 900mil and 1bn spent on that lot...and that's just transfer fees. Let that sink in for a minute.

How many would be considered successful buys, how many really moved the needle during their time at Spurs? Yes, some are recent purchases but still...

One man has presided over every single one of them signings. And guess what, he's still in the top seat, getting paid more than any other football director in the world, allowing himself fat bonuses whenever he fancies...and I guarantee you that if you asked him how he's performed at his job since '01, he'd tell you he's the best thing that could've ever happened to Tottenham, that he's a genius chairman and that we should all line up to kiss his ass.
interesting

so what about Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Bergvall, Parker, Sandro, Defoe, Lennon, Walker, Rose, Dele, Eriksen etc?

One man has presided over every single one of them signings - All cost less than 15M

The elephant in the room regarding Delap is that City has a buy back clause I believe. If someone else activates the release clause City can just activate the buy back and it comes down to the player where he wants to go.

Definitely- but Delap would be incredibly stupid to go back to City while Haaland is there- it will end his career before it even starts. I'd expect all that would be discussed well in advance of a bid ever being made anyways so doubt it'd come to any dramatic moment.

As is our table position is so poor right now a whole host of other clubs look more attractive than us. It for sure is going to hurt our recruiting this summer, unfortunately. It's not just the wages, its the stigma of being a club where careers go to die.
