Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

LB/LCB - Hato for me, maybe that esteve maxime guy from burnley?

MF - I would be happy with any of Ugochukwu, Cardoso, Stiller, Chris Rigg, or Wharton
RWF - Depends Odobert, Yang at QPR etc, but Bakayako would be fantastic

RCB if romero leaves - Araujo has a 65m release clause, would be the perfect replacement imo, and he could hold it down til Vuskovic comes good

Striker - Hoping tel comes good, no real planning besides shipping out richy.

Never seen Hato tbh but he's well rated. Stiller is another great shout for CM. Wharton doesn't look like he's got the legs for PL so far. Great technically but he gets overrun pretty easily and we need a CM to dominate physically.

Agree on striker. If Tel is a CF, which I suspect he is, we are good there. Could keep Scarlett or Lankshear around as 3rd option.

Sell
Bentancur or Bissouma (i prefer to keep Bissouma tbh)
Romero
Richarlison (rate him highly but injury prone)
Gil
Solomon

Sign
CB
LB (why we didnt activate Cirkins 6m clause i'll never know)
CM
Mbuemo
Tel (if things go well)

Tel will be the back up striker NOT Son with Scarlett hopefully continuing to impress. This doesnt even inlude Gray, Yang, Phillips, Vuskovic, Devine, Moore, Veliz, Lankshear.

Fair point on Wharton there, but I feel like a lot of that is still him getting up to speed after injury. Of all of them, Ugochukwu is the biggest freak of nature and imo the highest upside.

On left sided defenders, pavlocic at ac Milan could be a good shout.

Vicario/kinksy/austin
Porro/spence/romero(araujo)/hanso/vdv/davies/udogie/hato/vuskovic
Bentancur/gray/ugochukwu/sarr/bergvall/madders/kulu/devine
Odobert/johnson/yang/solanke/tel/sonny/moore

Very, very solid squad and a good mix of experience and youth. I left dragusin out because he won’t be back til end of this year imo. Included vuskovic because he’ll get some reps and maybe stay in to become club trained. Included Devine because club trained, and I rate him.

To me the biggest priority next summer is a holding player with physicality and maturity. I know they are thin on the ground, but it’s literally the one signing that would elevate the team by multitudes. Have a couple of Lucas, Archie, Pape, and Deki rampaging up and down and pressing in front of him.

Ugochukwu, Onana, and Baleba (baleba worse at duels) all are very similar. Cardoso has similar defensive work, but better passing with worse carrying and in duels.

Stiller elite offensively, less defensive work but good in duels.

Ugochukwu is my pick due to being fucking massive.

Per this article the Cirkin buy back expired last June

Count me skeptical of buying a midfielder from a team which has conceded the most, and scored the fewest, goals in the league. Southampton are shit, obviously, and have many more problems than him - but if his brief is to shield the defence and support the attack, it doesn't look like he's having much success on either front.

He has been shut out there until they changed managers. Only played around half if not less of their games. He has done well when called on. Was decent before injury last year at chelsea. And did very well with rennes especially after camavinga left.

3 CB linked to Spurs in an click bait article
Sergio Ramos, Daniel Amartey, Kenneth Omeruo.

Free agents Spurs can still sign after failed moves for Marc Guehi & Axel Disasi

Ramos is going to Mexico, right?

Maybe he could help facilitate booking a Shakira concert, though...

Real Betis have just announced a contract extension for Johnny Cardoso, their US midfield player, until 2030.

This won't affect the 25m euros (£21m equivalent) option to buy that Spurs negotiated in their deal to offload Lo Celso - the option can only be triggered in a 2 week period early in summer 2025 transfer window - if Spurs do not exercise their option the contract extension likely puts up the price of Cardosa who sems to remain Betis standout performer this season.

Possibly a good upgrade on Bissouma at a bargain price ? I assume Lange is keeping a constant eye on his performances.

Might be silly because it's only a month but leaning towards keeping Bentancur because of AFCON next year.

It's 21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026 (often leave a bit earlier) and it'll be the same as last year where we lose Sarr too.

AFCON often try to get players to join up 2 weeks before start of tournament, so quite possibly 6 weeks out if their countries get to finals,
