No sir - respectfully but strongly disagree - Ange still has 2 years left on his deal - plenty of time. We do not need to extend his contract.I think a new contract is important, even if the contents do not mean much (e.g. same notice period as before). Just to instill authority in Ange to the players and any new signings, and get the media off his back. If we lose 7 of the first 10 games they can still replace him. Just increases his odds of not losing 7 of the first 10 matches. Currently, if he stays, there will be intense speculation on all fronts that he is a dead man walking and that will not help.
‘So lose a left back and gain a centrebackMaybe Levy is not pissing about.
Reguilon out - Vuskovic in.
Werner out - Donley in.
Try to grab a couple of others on a free, Johnathon David (for Scarlett) and Walker- Peters (for Davies). Maybe Devine back (for Tel), a fee free goalkeeper (for Forster) and we are done.
Window sorted.
Use any excess money for hotel upgrades.
Not really - could get 10M for Phillips and another 70M for Archie and Odo. That’s not minimal impactThere will be cases when that makes sense; but of the 3 you mention, only Phillips is a plausible suggestion of such a strategy.
......And at the end of the day he's out on loan, building up his value (even if it's just as a credible lower table player) and having minimal impact on our squad building in the here and now.
And we are so poor, albeit with some up and coming, young hotels and infrastructureI think this could be the summer Newcastle get going. 250m warchest available and in for Mbuemo and Delap already.
Its going to be really difficult to qualify for CL in future bearing in mind Liverpool, City, Newcastle and Woolwich are so strong.
Disagree. If Levy says nothing we’ll have massive speculation about his job before a ball is kicked and will put untoward pressure on Ange and the players. Levy needs to alleviate that pressure by either replacing Ange, or by giving him his backing. Hypothetically, what harm would a new 3-year contract do if he’s only entitled to 12 months notice? None. What would it say to the media and potential new signings? Everything. It’s win - win (if he stays). No sir - respectfully but strongly disagree - Ange still has 2 years left on his deal - plenty of time. We do not need to extend his contract.
Five EPL managers started the season with less than 2 years left on their deals as of last summer and survived - Pep, Iraola, Glasner, Nuno and Silva. Pep had one year and got an extension mid-season.
Another 3 (Dyche, TenHag and Lopetegui) got the sack.
So 40% of EPL managers had 2 or less years on their contract going into the season - So not all unusual.
As for the 5 managers that survived the season - All of them performed and I didn't hear any speculation about any of them being dead men walking because they didn't have more than 2 years left on their deals - So we perform better in the league under Ange to start next season and there will be no speculation - If the team is flailing then there will be rampant speculation whether or not the contract is extended - just like there was this season with 3 years left on Ange's deal ...
Winning the Europa may save his job - but he should have to earn an extension this winter or next summer by showing much better in the league ...
You think we could get £80 million for those three???Not really - could get 10M for Phillips and another 70M for Archie and Odo. That’s not minimal impact
Son will definitely stay. They've added Korea to the pre season matches in Asia.I think along with Ange staying we'll also see Son stay- it feels like a "last hurrah" sort of moment with the CL run- I doubt Levy would want to mess with that. I kind of expect most the team to remain the same. I think we'll simply fill in the holes and that'll be that- Cardoso at CDM, somebody at LB or RB, and a versatile attacker. Maybe we actually can go after Eze or Mbeumo now? That would all fit in with what you are expecting fee wise- a couple 25m players and one 30-50m. I do think Levy will feel pressure to spend a bit more now to make it look like he is really backing the team (haha).
I'm also interested to see if Ashley Phillips can do a job for us in the backup VdV role. He's apparently got a lot of speed and maybe can kind of play a similar role, at least defensively.
Richy should definetly go. Son can stay but provided it’s from the bench where I think he can still make an impact. As for Ange, who the hell knowsEmotionally I would like to keep Ange, Son and Richy. But my head suspects all 3 this is the best time to go as it could end in tears if they come into next season.

Upper end but why not - basically what we paid?! Flip them before they are worthless in a year or twoYou think we could get £80 million for those three???
Who on this planet would pay that money for those ?

Well, by the count it looks like we paid at least 62m for them…You think we could get £80 million for those three???

Top whack? Somewhere near what we paid is the askAaaah; so you're one of those confused types that thinks our players are shit but wants other clubs to pay top whack for them.
Noted.
