Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well I've done some research on this and can't find it anywhere. The only information out there, that I can see, is his interview from a couple of weeks ago, where he said he wants to win the PL.and CL.

Maybe you could put the quote/interview up to draw a line under the argument?

It was a few years back. Levy interview on the stadium I think. He was sat down, slightly left of center in the shot looking to his left at the camera, to our right as the viewer. Maybe around the time of the infamous Cambridge Student Union speech.

He said “of course we all want to win trophies…” then the famous line.

They have no model. They can't sell any players because they put them on such ridiculous wages that if they flop they are stuck with them. Rashford and Sancho are on 700k a week combined and they can't sell them. Meanwhile they are signing similar level players like Cunha and Mbeumo and offering them stupid wages. so if they flop they are stuck with them too and can't resell them! Now they want to sell Garnacho!

Meanwhile they'll stick Amad as a wing back next season to accommodate Mbeumo and Cunha. And guess what'll happen? Amad will struggle in the new role and not have as good a season. Confidence will drop and this time next year he'll be the new Garnacho/Sancho/Rashford! "Quick sign Hakimi - a proper right back! Offer him 500k a week to come!"
It's been interesting to watch the downward spiral at Man United. If you go back to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the club and fans seemed convinced the problem was always the manager when it was actually bad player acquisition and contracts. Now they are convinced that throwing money at Cunha and Mbeumo will fix things. It won't.

What is most fascinating is how they make the same mistakes over and over again. It is the definition of insanity. The fans are convinced that its going to be different every time.

Eze is a weird one because I arguably think him and Madders play the same position best. I’m all for it, but with Tel and Odobert and of course Sonny that LW feels a bit cramped. RW is where we need the most reinforcement. He’s the quality we need, although not necessarily the easiest fit in the squad, so I understand the hesitation.
I think with a player like Eze, you adjust to get him the minutes in the league and the CL matches.

But reality is that Maddison only started about half the league games last year, never seemed fully fit from December onward.

There will likely be more minutes against quality opponents than we have healthy bodies to play them, again, in 4 comps

The situation it gives the impression Romero and Dragusin are off. Vuskovic has just had a brilliant spell in Belgium, this kid is already a Japanese international. They aren’t Championship loan players like Dorrington, if they ain’t playing we at least need loans to say Bayer Laverkusen or somewhere where they will challenge themselves.

If we don’t loan and Romero and Dragusin stay we have Romero, VDV, Danso and Dragusin ahead.
You do realise both Van Der Ven and Romero have spent lots of the last few seasons injured. Also Vuskovic is no where near ready his team last season conceeded 49 Goals last season in 30 Games.

As for as Takai - he comes as a best young player from J league - a league which is 23rd in world ranking but still higher in ranking than Sweden or Croatia. More than K league, J league infact has given lot more talents to Europe over the years. Ay transition going to be difficult. but for best talents they can cope better than most. All they need is right environment
Vuskovic isn't coming straight off the back of a season in Croatia though, he's coming from a strong season in the Belgian Pro League which Opta rank as one of the 8 strongest leagues in the world.

Decent counter point tbf

So sell Romero what are we achieving in 2 years time?
I don't think it's fair to put Romero in the same class as Berbatov, Bale and Kane. He isn't that important to us. If Romero goes, we can replace him with equivalent quality without too much trouble.

At the moment, it's not entirely clear what our achievement ceiling with Frank is going to be but I think we need to be looking at major statement silverware (as our chairman indicated). It's the only thing we haven't done. Whether it'll happen in two years or not is another matter but I don't think it will have much to do with whatever happens with Romero.

I'm really trying to rack my head around where Eze will fit in this current team, I suppose Frank is adaptable so can fit him in but I can't help think someone like Semenyo or Kudus is a much better natural and obvious fit for us than Eze is.

Fit in the team. You mean our team?

If you are being serious ,then seriously.

I mean our midfield needs strengthening. It's really that simple.

Eze, despite that ever present concern of doing it at a bigger club and delivering, improves our midfield and our options.

I don’t agree tbh mate.

We can get a CB with better availability but we will struggle to replace the quality of CB he is when he’s fit

I don't think he's far off. He's comfortably the only world class player we have and he won us that Europa League. He showed his dominant class in all them knock out games. His presence and calmness was the difference. If he wasn't available we would have got knocked out by Frankfurt in Germany and we wouldn't have won the final either. Top top player when he's available and motivated.

Argentina would not have won the world cup without Romero and we would not have won the Europa League without Romero. They are two undisputable facts. Romero is clearly a difference maker.

Who do we replace him with? He's completely different class to the likes of Guehi and Braintwaithe and they'd cost just as much! And we all know how this club works. We won't replace him and it'll be a big drop off to the likes of Danso and Dragusin.

Where does he fit in exactly? Can you pinpoint his position?

All well and good buying a player of his caliber but you kinda need him to fit.

What's more is IMO we're in more of a need for a RW and a 6.
